TKers...8 is NOT enough!

It really is here. And I am so thankful for it. Family is what you make it or so I've learned. It's nice to know I always have family I can turn to. :grouphug:

Did you see the announcement from Atlanta Speedway that they will only hold one race next year? Another long time track losing a race. :sad2:

I'm outta here. I have to start trying to get to bed early....school will be starting soon.

Have a good one.

Good morning everyone!!! Thought I would check in for now while Ben dear is at the Drs, (after working yesterday and being on call most of last night I'm exhausted). Not much going on on my end, nothing but work and more work and more work! Not too upset about it though as its getting us one step closer to having enough for Disney in the winter!!!!!

Good morning ladies! Its supposed to be a perfect weekend here...mid 80s and much less humid. I'm looking forward to it!

I may not go to the concert on Saturday night. While I would love, love, love to go, I don't think this old broad has it in her! It would be 2 hours each way, meaning I would get home well after 2 am and I don't think I'd enjoy it that much after all that. Still thinking about it though....you never know!

I have another aunt visiting sometime next week. They're driving across country at their leisure so we don't really know when they'll show up. They called over the weekend and they were in New Orleans. She ordinarily lives in Las Vegas. I really think I should visit her and score a free room. But I'd have to build up the vacation fund some more....like Mere!

JO--I think its a good idea to speak with your visitors and just kinda see where they're at also. It would be nice to come up with a plan for all of you, even if you don't stick to it. It would be much less stressful for you to have a timeline and a goal. Do they leave the house very much? What will you all do when the kids go back to school? Are they at least helping out with the daily run of things? I know its a difficult topic to bring up, but I think its better to start the dialogue now rather than later.

And yes, I do love my ladies here oh so much. Unlike family, we chose each other. We've had a few friends come and go, but at the core of it, we're here for each other, good and bad, because we WANT to be. And that gift of kindness, love, and generosity is so so precious.

oh, and DL55...my rice cooker is back and running! Just gave it a good clean and a long rest and its doing its job. I don't ask it any questions. I'm just happy!

Maybe you are just washed out today Kitty. It does sound like a long day though. I don't like driving that late either. You never know about the other crazies out there. Just be careful. :woohoo: for the rice cooker. All this positive energy for appliances...hope it applies to computers too!

I just need to get something done today...don't really care what. Maybe that's my problem...don't really care! :3dglasses

Have a great weekend...I'm going to HP on Sunday---all afternoon. The group is a local group and they do 3 different shows of oldies...really enjoy them.

M...is there a better way to spend a Sunday than enjoying good music? Sounds wonderful for me...especially when there's chocolate involved! Say hello to the buffalo for me please!

The drive wouldn't be too bad, its mostly highway. But you're exactly right, I worry about the other drivers! Its a heavy tractor trailer route too, and that always makes me nervous. And a Saturday night after a concert is always pretty hairy! People are drinking and teens are acting stupid with their friends....gosh, I sound like an old lady! But truly, as much as I love to go to concerts, the local venue has completely spoiled me. Its much more enjoyable to leave the house and in my seat ten minutes later!

Hey---TKers are THE Best! Had computer woes...no one here knows anything about computers. I tried JO's cell to ask her to post my Yahoo picks this week! That's important. I thought I would have to get a new computer...had a blue screen with info I know nothing about but have always heard blue screens are the kiss of death. But I could still do everything but get on aol. To make a long, confusing story short, Jo's cell wasn't on...knew Kitty was away...but I also have D&D's cell so I tried it...she was there! So she gave me a shoulder to complain to and explained what some abbreviation means. So we figured it wasn't the computer but just aol. She also said she would post on fb so JO wouldn't worry about me! Anyway, I bravely try again...change some things...and I got on!
So HI everyone! don't know what I would do without you! I don't want to know what I would do without you.
You're welcome.
I see you wasted no time raising your post count after you got back on. ;)

D&D, your family just makes me :furious: I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. I swear when I see you in a non-Kyle Busch shirt, I won't ask you "You're gonna wear that?" I'll smile and tell you how wonderful you look.

Things are kinda wonky around here. Heck, they are more than wonky. In-laws have been here almost a month and Curt and I hate it more and more each day. I truly feel like I am running a hotel. I told Curt tonight that we have to set a time limit that they are going to live here. We'll see how that goes.

:rotfl: Actually I don't own 1 NASCAR shirt. Not one. Thinking of getting a Danica Patrick shirt though. :rolleyes1 Seems everyone has an opinion on her -- usually not good. Even DH hates her. Hee hee! Would that make you say "Are you going to wear that?"
I'm with you 100% on the time limit. God bless you for doing what you are doing. You are so much stronger than I could ever be with family.

Oh, and you all are so much more the definition of family in my mind. :grouphug: If there was a way to divorce some family members, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Get this...Two weeks ago we got an invitation to my sister's daughter's b-day party this weekend. I politely said we couldn't make it cuz we had other plans for this weekend, made long ago, but we'd send a present over with my mom.
Then, yesterday at my mom's, my sister's DH and my mom tried convincing my DS8 to come to my niece's b-day party this weekend w/o us and telling him that he'd have so much fun at the party. Well, what do you think an 8 yr old kid is going to say when tempted like this "Mommy, can I not go with you, daddy and Nick to State Fair this weekend and go w/ grandma to the b-day party. I was livid. :furious: How dare they try to convince my son that going someplace with his own family is less fun then something with them. How rude!!! Naturally when I told DS8 that he needs to come w/ us cuz we're his family and that we'll see them again another time, he started to cry and pout. My mom pipes in and says "I can take him to the party if you want". Umm, NO I don't want! He's coming with us. He's our son and WE'RE his family.
Do you see what I am up against here????:headache:

Wow D! That's completely rude and disrespectful to undermine you like that and to put DS in such a situation! While it was nice that they wanted him so badly to go to the party, really they should have come to you about it first. And when you told them you already had other plans, maybe consider another get together another time if it really meant that much to them? Goodness me. I'd be livid too if someone made my precious boy cry.....

M&N, I posted this on FB the other day...."Sharing DNA does not make you family, the way people treat each other is what REALLY makes your family"

We are family here. Through everything that we all have been through, we always have each others' back. And a hug to share, tears to be shed, laughter and smiles, and there is always room on the ***** bench.

:thumbsup2 I just pretend I don't have family except for you guys.
I am visiting family in Sept and not looking forward to it.

oh, and DL55...my rice cooker is back and running! Just gave it a good clean and a long rest and its doing its job. I don't ask it any questions. I'm just happy!

:goodvibes

That is awful D&D! Poor DS8. I'm sure he's going to have a great time with you all but to even suggest to a child that being with mom and dad isn't fun is terrible! I would have a hard time getting mad at him for pouting and getting mad but I would be upset---I hope you can point out to him later that it was a much more fun time with you all than being stuck at a party. Or is that being rude??? Have a great time!

So is dh off golfing this weekend DL55? Hope the weather isn't too hot for him. Where are you going in Sept? I'm visiting 2 aunts in NC the end of Aug. One I'm excited about seeing...the other, not so much!

I'm off to mom's............I'll never catch up to D&D's post count! ;)

Thanks for listening to me rant. I know I must sound like a broken record with that family of mine, but by golly, they sure get to me some time. Nice to know you all "get it".

Kitty - I so hear you on the driving after the concert thing. As fun as concerts can be, I dread that part too. If you decide to go just stay safe. You know how we worry.

I'll be done now so M&N can catch up. Gotta finish :laundy: and cleaning

DL55 - Drink heavily in Sept. Captain Morgan is your friend. ;)

:rotfl2: Since my mom is in Sparks, NV I think I'll take advantage of complementary drinks in the casinos. :drinking1
We are going to stay at the Grand Canyon then visit with MIL and his brother. Then stay at Yosemite and then on to my moms. going to be a 2 week trip. Excited about the parks not so much the family part. Mainly just bored. I just nod my head a lot. ;)

D&DDisney You mentioned going to the state fair? Is this to just have fun? Knowing my family parties the state fair would win hands down. :cool2:

DL55...sounds like its going to be an interesting trip! It will be beautiful to visit the parks though. Maybe you should start practicing the "yes, I'm not really paying attention but you think I am" look.

Unfortunately, I have a dry family. Grandparents were really strict about drinking, playing cards, cursing, comic books, etc...you know all those things that corrupt the world. We drink, gamble, and curse when no one's looking.

I never said I was taking my mom to the casino. ;)

 Well, I'd be happier about the trip to the Grand Canyon & Yosemite more than the relatives. ;) Love your idea of nodding your head in agreement. :thumbsup2 We're cut from the same mold DL55.

We go as a family to the Fair every year and usually on the weekend cuz of DH's work schedule. Plus, we're meeting some friends there. There will be other b-day parties. This is her 1st daughter's party. The other two have b-days in Sept.

IDEA! We can have a Pick Your Favorite Walter Birthday Picture contest. LITC can post pics in his different outfits/poses and we can pick our favorite! Any way you look at it, he wins!

Thats a fun idea M!
I think I may be able to find a picture or two.... :rotfl:

Sorry about all the family problems. Having some here to, but don't really feel like getting into it. Why let them win?
