TKers...8 is NOT enough!

D...that is terrible! What the heck is insurance for then? You pay and pay and they take their dear sweet time while your life is on hold. Goodness! That makes no sense at all.

Really, $169 for a window is ridiculous---believe me, I've been wanting to replace my windows every season but the prices are just scary!

Thanks for the support. I have just been sitting here crying when I get off the phone w/ these nuts. Don't know what else to do.
I always thought when you filed a claim that you just submitted the bill to insurance and they cut a check - simple right??
This is more complex than I could ever have imagined. :sad2::sad1:

I don't blame you at all for crying. I have never had to deal with house insurance stuff. I did have a car claim once--someone broke into my car to get my CD player. But it was actually a good experience. The insurance company worked directly with the garage and took care of everything after I paid the deductible. I though that was the way house insurance worked too.

Its absolutely dumb that you have to pay the work first and hope to be paid back by the insurance company. It just creates more issues for you, as if you already haven't been through enough already.....

Oh D&DDisney :grouphug: for you. I think insurance companies are just legalized extortion rings. You have to have insurance but try to collect. :headache: You can come camping with me but meeting my family could make you worse. ;)

DL...I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and DH. I bet camping with you guys is a riot!

A little OT here, but I need to bring in the big guns--namely those of you with boys. Some friends of mine are a blended family--he and his 3 boys, she with her two girls. Now she only has weekend custody of the girls every two weeks. The younger girl is 13 and a few months ago accused the youngest boy of molesting her. I didn't beleive it at all--the boy is mentally challenged, he's been determined to have the mental age of 10, although he's 18 now.

Anyway, he was immediately detained and has been awaiting trial the last few weeks. The girl has changed her story twice and it looks like the case will be dropped (thank goodness). She's also accused another family friend of touching her two years ago. I think this girl has some serious issues and needs help, I always have. My BF refuses to be anywhere near the girl, and I don't blame him, although I feel bad for her.

Anyway, the lawyer seems to think that Roger (the boy) will be released sometime soon. I sure hope so. So here's my issue--BF and I would like to get Roger some sort of used gaming system. In jail, all he's wanted to do is eat candy and play video games. Where does someone find a used gaming system? We can't afford to get him a new one right now, but once he gets out, we want him to do whatever he wants. And he wants to play video games. Any suggestions?

It doesn't have to be the lastest and greatest, just something to play some games at home. I'm really clueless about these things....

Try Gamestop (if you have one there) or we've had good luck on Amazon or Craigslist. What type of system are you thinking of?

LITC - Here is an article I was reading about us "Cabless" people.
http://finance.yahoo.com/family-hom...have-to-pay-for-cable-tv?mod=series-a-article I am still holding out hope that we can go forever cabless and still see everything we want for free or very cheaply. :thumbsup2

Naw...I'm not scared of family. I come from a scary family - remember??

I never thought of Amazon! Thanks! I'm not sure how Craigslist works, I'll have to look at that also....in terms of systems, I have no idea whatsoever...I'll have to get BF's opinion on that.

D&D - I am so sorry for your troubles. You know you can always come here we love you.

Kitty -- There was a kid at work selling a Sega Dreamcast? I think it was with a controller and a couple games, I think he only wanted like $60 for it which isn't to bad since it came with games and stuff. I could check into it for you if you would like. I could evven buy it for you and mail it to you. And then you and BF could pay me or something. Just let me know.

LITC...aren't you a dear? You just take care of yourself and get better....I'm still looking around right now. And waiting for someone to call to find out if Roger's getting out sometime soon....

Thanks I will! Just funny that he just had that hanging in the lunch room not that long ago, and now you are looking for a system!

I think I'm going to go with a used Xbox from Gamestop. Its priced at $109 with free delivery. I don't think that's too bad. Then we're going to get him a GC for Blockbuster so he can rent whatever games he wants to try out.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!! Wow, you have to be quick to keep up with y'all!

M&N, you should have seen my post on my facebook page. I was lecturing the kids about eating more fruits and veggies and I said, "I want ya'll to eat more things that grow." Without missing a beat, my oldest said, "Pigs grow." :lmao:

:lmao: Too funny....and I have to say I quite agree! LOVE me some bacon....

LITC - That stinks that you're not feeling good. Being sick really does suck!

D&D - Sorry to be nosey here but what happened to your house?! Sounds awful!! (HUGS)

MagiKitty - Wow, that whole situation is just sad! As for a used gaming system I would suggest eBay!

Hiya Tink! Yes, we are pretty chatty, but don't let that intimidate you. If you get lost or fall behind, just jump right on in...

I was thinking of ebay, its actually really dangerous for me. I start looking up random stuff and before you know it, I'm bidding!

Another Texas gal I see! There's two other Texans here, I believe....SCHBR'smom and Bopsmom. I think I may be forgetting someone else too....its kinda hard to remember where everyone is from!

D&D, I think it's time to call out the Bat Mobile
batsignal-2.jpg
and go kick some insurance booty!

Seriously, that is just horrendous. I can't believe they are making everything so difficult for you.

MK, Marie is also from Texas. I avoid Ebay at all costs now. I'm way too competitive to bid on there. I just get it in my mind that I have to win the auction.

That sounds like a great price on an Xbox. If you decide, down the line, you want to get him some game for it, check out gamefly. They have a whole section on their website with used games. I've bought some from there and have never had a problem with them.

Welcome Tink! Try not to blink around here, you'll miss 10 pages in that time. :rotfl:

LITC, I hope you feel better soon.

I know I'm forgetting stuff so I'll just :wave2:

Too funny! And do they grow!!!

LITC: Hope you are feeling better. I've been voting for Walter. I saw someone with about 50 more votes... But he knows we think the's the cutest.

Kitty: What??? You are not invited to the wedding? It must be because they saw your tiara and are jealous! They can't have anyone outshine the bride!

DL55: Keep on camping...glad you are enjoying it. Isn't it great to have the time to travel?

Bye EV---have fun!

Tink: If you have any questions, feel free to ask. It is hard to follow sometimes! D&D's neighborhood was visited by a tornado in June! She can fill more in. It was not a great experience when it happened and the nightmare is still going on by the sounds of it. Tell us some things about yourself--you don't have to do it all at once! I am a retired school librarian and live near Hershey.

Baltimore lost but it was a good game. We had fun. No rain at all because I took a poncho in. They are still saying tstorms possible! Ate at UNO"s---great pizza!

OOOPS!

JO. You were nnot here when I started typing my post...don't want to ignore you!

M...maybe my invite got lost in the mail.

We've been having crazy storms all evening. I just hope it doesn't rain Saturday night when we're at the concert. We have covered seating, but its still a long walk to the parking lot in the mud! Remember, this venue is the site of the original Woodstock, so it gets REALLY REALLY muddy there!
