We have never gotten this card since we usually snack at the parks (we live an hour and a half away), but now that we will be staying a full week there and plan to do several character meals, I am considering it.

I see that an 18% tip is added to the card. Does that mean you don't need to tip or do most people regularly add more? Also, what about the counter service places I see on there (Pizzafari, etc). Does it tip there?

Is there anything else about it I'm not seeing. Basically it's 20% off and some parking discounts.

Here is a working example, using $100.00 as the original bill to make the math show up easily. Note this is for Table Service. At Counter Service there is no gratuity added.

100.00 - Original Menu Amount
*20.00 - Discount
*80.00 - Subtotal
*18.00 - Gratuity Added based on $100
**5.20 - Sales Tax on $80
103.20 - Final amount charged, takes into consideration discount, gratuity and tax.

Without TiW Discount (and still figuring 18% Gratuity)

100.00 - Original Menu Amount
*18.00 - Gratuity
**6.50 - Sales Tax on $100
124.50 - Total

$21.30 - Savings using TiW Card.

(Note - At Victoria and Albert's the added gratuity is 20% instead of 18%.)
* Ignore the asterisks; they are there only so the columns/numbers line up properly.

And you do have the option to add an additional tip when you pay the bill, if you so desire.

When you use the card you are already automatically paying an 18% tip. Unless the service is outstanding in some way, I don't usually add any extra tip, which is kind of weird, since before they started including the 18% I usually tipped 20%! that being said, I often add more at the Signatures since we do usually get great service there (example: a server taking extra time to explain and recommend a wine that we end up enjoying quite a bit).

I can't answer your question about CS, since very few CS accept the card, I can't recall ever using it at a CS. :confused3

The main problem I have with the added tip/adding more tip dilemma is when I'm just grabbing a couple cocktails for dh and I, and it seems to take forever sometimes for the Polynesian/Ohana manager to approve my card, I hate to not add something when it clearly just took a whole lot of runaround drama for the bartender to deal with. That kind of irks me, to the point I avoid using my card for a round of drinks in the afternoon there. :headache:

Thanks! I think I will get this then. I have 7 ADRs for table service restaurants for a party of 5 so I should definately save with this since we are out of pocket. Very excited for this! This is the first time we are trying something beyond counter service. :)

Thank you for the information as well. I will be purchasing a TIW card and will be using it for the few table service dinners we have. :goodvibes

One thing to know is that in order for you to use TIW the server needs to have the manager enter a code. I always tell them at the begining that I will be using it and then know that I will have to wait a few extra minutes for my bill. If I am at a lounge I try to give them my card when I order so they can have it added to my tab then instead of when I go to pay.
