We have always used the DDP and have found it to be a cost saver for us in the past. We are going to track our eating this time to see if it still saved us money, but next summer we have a big trip with a total of 10 people and by Disney standards, we are 6 adults and 4 children. I just dont know if the DDP is going to be worth it with the new pricing. With that being said, I am curious how TiW works. Do character meals count? What about quick service places? And where do i purchase this?

Thanks so much for your help- I am just learning the ins and outs of DVC membership!

You will either need to be a Florida resident or have an Annual Pass to buy the TIW card. If you don't live in Florida, just buy an AP or PAP. When you buy it, you can also buy the TIW card for $75 at Guest Relations. It will be good about 13 months. You can use it at most Table Service restaurants and a few counter service restaurants for up to ten guests. The person who owns the card has to be present.

Just to add to the previous posters: TIW is a 20% off discount for all food and beverages (including alcohol) and an 18% gratuity is added to all checks regardless of the party size.

Still a great savings and you can eat the way you want, not restricted to appetizer, entree, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage. I often order several appetizer and skip the entree or share one with DH.

The only new information I can add to what has already been stated is that we HAVE tracked our expenditures in detail several times both with and without the DDP, and we always saved several hundred dollars when we used the TIW . DDP is always more expensive for us. Of course, there is that convenience factor with DDP though, and you will have to decide how much value you place on the convenience.
