TiW discount applied to prepaid reservation?

I have an AP and plan to purchase TiW to use on a May trip. There are 9 of us (6 adults and 3 kids) and with meals at CRT breakfast, 1900 Park Fare dinner, TH breakfast, BoG dinner and 'Ohana breakfast it looks like I will come out ahead getting the TiW card.

I have everything booked and I prepaid CRT. How does the TiW discount work? After I have purchased it (which I will do by mid-January) do I call and get the discount applied to CRT or do I wait until arrival?

Will TiW work at the food kiosks during F&G?

You have to prepay some restaurants. Check the TIW list to see which restaurants accept it. Discount can be credited when you get to the restaurant. You have to tell them about it when you get there.

It does not work at F&G kiosks.

Also, bring photo ID.

You get a refund of the discount at prepaid restaurants.

I would not purchase the TiW card until you arrive at WDW. The expiration date on it begins ticking from the time you purchase it, unlike an AP.

And, as said above...you'll be refunded the discount when you dine at the restaurant.

Thanks I did not know that - assumed it was like an AP.

We just ate at CRT in October. The server took the TIW card at end of meal and said refund would take about 7 business days. Don't remember exact timeline but refund hit within 14 days.
