Can anyone fill me in on this? I've seen it mentioned in the Dining Reviews, and I'd like to know the details. Many thanks in advance!

It is available to Florida residents or Annual Pass holders. The last time I checked the cost is $75. It will give you 20% off your bill at most WDW table service restaurants and some resort counter service locations. It also automatically adds an 18% tip to the bill after the 20% deduction is applied.

I could be wrong but I thought it added the 18% before the deduction?

I'm pretty sure it the gratuity is added after the 20% deduction. I used it on our trip in April and left extra cash for a few servers who really deserved to be tipped on the pre-discounted amount. I recall going through the analysis in my head, but I could have it wrong.

Thanks for the responses - I am neither an Annual Passholder or a Florida resident so I'm out. Too bad they don't include DVC owners.

No, the gratuity is based on pre-discounted amount, as it should be. :upsidedow

Tip is added before the discount. I even found an old receipt and did the math :headache: It is 18% so we do leave a couple extra bucks if service was great!

Does this actually save you money in one trip after the $75.00??

We definately save money. For every $100 we spend we save $20. We don't do the DDP and pay OOP. Also most people with TIW are going more than once a year, thats why we have an AP. For instance we go at least 20 days a year and spend at least $100 a day on food and drinks(actually I wish that we only spent $100 a day:rotfl:) So it is a $$ saver!

Here is a working example, using $100.00 as the original bill to make the math show up easily. Note this is for Table Service. At Counter Service there is no gratuity added.

100.00 - Original Amount
*20.00 - Discount
*80.00 - Subtotal
*18.00 - Gratuity Added based on $100
**5.20 - Sales Tax on $80
103.20 - Final amount charged, takes into consideration discount, gratuity and tax.

Without TiW Discount (and still figuring 18% Gratuity)

100.00 - Amount of Bill
*18.00 - Gratuity
**6.50 - Sales Tax on $100
124.50 - Total

$21.30 - Savings using TiW Card.

(Note - At Victoria and Albert's the added gratuity is 20% instead of 18%.)
* Ignore the asterisks; they are there only so the columns/numbers line up properly.

Thanks for the info! We are DVC members and will go twice on our AP's! Maybe more!:rotfl: Our next trip is in July, but we are staying 4 nights at Poly (cash) then 5 nights in a DVC 1 bedroom! So, we are debating whether or not to do the DDP for our DVC 5 nights or do the TIW for all 9 nights?? We will also do another trip in June next year for 9 nights (DVC) and maybe a trip in between (cash)!Just wondering how to eat the cheapest?

Keep in mind that the TiW will also deduct 20% from all beverages, including adult beverages. If you like to get cocktails or a bottle of wine with dinner that's a nice savings. Also, if you like ordering appetizers either before your entree or in place of it they will also be discounted. We tried DDP, but will now always get a TiW instead.

Love Love Love the TiW cards! we've used them forever and the reasons: 1. I don't want to have to pay for dining in advance in case something happens to change our trip dates 2. you can get the TiW card at WDW (someone must have an AP to trigger eligibility) 3. our family simply could not eat all the food required to make the other plans pay. we are not snackers and do not want to walk around in food comas all day :lmao:we do that enough with some of our faves like Ohanas and Biergarten! 4. hassle free check out. no "discussions" with CMs about what is eligible or not for the "plan"...and believe me, we've witnessed some horrible "discussions" :scared1: 4. last but not least: we do not want to have to think about credits, menu items, how much, not enough, no it's not on.....you get the picture. Here's what we want to eat, here's our TiW card--here's 20% off! we save around $3-400 each trip. Not bad.

Well, with the DVC discount on the annual pass, it might be worth reconsidering. Not everyone has to get the AP. One the primary person buying the Tables in Wonderland card.

I prefer the card because I also don't like the regimented eating style imposed by the Dining Plan. I often will get a couple appetizers and dessert at a restaurant rather than ordering an entree. Or skip the dessert entirely.

We love the TIW card. It fits how we dine better then the DDP.

We have a cocktail in a lounge before dinner, wine or a cocktail with dinner, usually split an app, and never order desserts. That is how we dine at Disney or at home.

Plus this year they added the Swan/Dolphin restaurants. So we are looking forward to using our TIW card at Blue Zoo and Shula's in September.

The cost for 13 months membership is $75 for annual passholders and $100 for Florida residents who are not annual passholders. Disney actually advertises that annual passholders get $25 off the membership cost.

We are a family of 3, we ate one table service meal a day, and we hit the $75 mark (meaning we bought $375 worth of eligible food and drink) before the end of our stay.

Last month I was at V&A with three relatives and we saved over $100 using the TiW card for the one meal.

I bought an AP specifically to get the TiW - after one visit to V&A with the wine pairings, for 2 people, I made up for both the upgrade to the AP and the TiW! The rest was pure savings.

Which DVC location? If you are staying at SSR, you can use TiW on the Artists Palette meals, thus helping to break even faster.

Beyond that however, you should definitely see more savings from TiW than paying OOP for DDP. A party of 4 eating TS should break even around 4-5 meals in. DDP save what, a free desert/snack per day? Especially since you plan on doing at least one more trip during the year, and staying at DVC, I would say TiW is a hands down winner.

Just look at the prices online for the places you like to eat and do the math using CheshireFigments example as a template. See how much it would save.
