i'm trying to plan a bit in the future, but hopefully someone can offer some insight.

we'll be getting AP's for our 5 day november 2011 trip, possibly stopping by in march 2012 for espn for 3 or 4 days, 4 or 5 days in may 2012 for our wedding planning session, and 11 days in november 2012---all within the year of the AP. we always do the dxddp because we like getting there and being paid for with the exception of drinks and gratuity.

we are table service people and enjoy appetizers, entrees and desserts, but we also like to have a drink with dinner, and our new favorite restaurant is shula's :lovestruc

i guess my main question is... if you have TIW and the dining plan on a trip, can you use the dining plan for your meal, and TIW for your drinks?? Will they split it up that way?? has anyone done this?? is this a good idea??

we've used the dxddp several time and i've done the math to see that it saves us more than TIW on all the meals, but any extra savings beyond is sure helpful!!

what do you think??

Remember, though, that you must spend $365 in eligible food & drink purchases to break even on the $75 cost of the TiW.

We have done this in the past and we will be doing it again this year and next.
We get AP's and take multiple trips per year. We are all adults. We order appetizers even though we are on the basic DDP and adult beverages with our meals. We use it over several trips. It includes the 18% gratuity, so we only need to tip more if we choose to.
We have even discovered that we can use it for the beach part of our upcoming vacation at Vero Beach.
We saved money - even after the $75 cost - last trip and we expect to save money in the future.
With all of the trips you are planning in the next year, and with liking appetizers and adult beverages, I believe you may save money.
Good Luck.

Thanks everyone!! I think this is the way to go!! I think we'll be way over $375 with 21+ days in WDW that AP year! Our meal at Shula's is normally $150 at least, plus drinks and extras, etc. He drinks 2 or 3 beers with dinner, and I'll have a glass of wine... I waste $75 on worse things... I guess it's better to have than not :goodvibes

Hi!

With spending 21 days at Disney you will easily save money! We always have a TiW and get the DDP (not always as we love to eat offsite too). If you like a drink or an appetizer, this IS the way to go!

We do this all the time. The TIW card is great for drinks and OOP meals. As others said we love doing both the dining plan and TIW.

Enjoy The Magic!!
