my tivo HD is dying, only holds 20 hrs of programming. Anyone have one of the Roamio ones? they are on sale now but not sure I'm ready to pull the trigger. Been a tivo fan since '02

The HD's are pretty easy to repair. It's worthwhile if you have lifetime service, but, otherwise, the box is pretty much worthless.

I upgraded from the HD, to the Premiere, and just last week moved to the Roamio. I actually sold my three Premiere's for more than I paid for one Roamio and two Mini's. Personally, I have no complaints.

Weakknees repairs them, I had them fix my old Series 3 that had lifetime service.

I have a Elite XL, with lifetime. I am starting to question the lifetime service investment. I have a series 2 with lifetime (so it is not HD), that still works, but who wants it?

I also wish I could access on Demand from FIOS. But I love my Tivo anyway!

I have a couple of TiVo Series 4's I'll sell you for dirt cheap. Moved to direct tv about 3 months ago and don't need them any more. they are only about a year old.

I'm going to keep the tivo that is not working well to use by the treadmill. It will be fine for that. I'm closing on my house next week and I'm thinking of using some of the equity from that to splurge on a Roamio. I just don't know whether to get the entry level one or the one up from that.

I wish I could give you some good advise. I loved my TiVo's, until 3 months ago I've had one ever since 1997 when they first came out with the series 1. I had Charter service and got the new series 4's about a year ago. After several hours of trying and 3 services techs they finally got them working but they still had problems recording. The first 2 techs that came out had never seen a TiVo. After all that they seemed to not record new shows in my series and they would record stuff I did not want. Love the TiVo menus but it just did not work as expected and Charter was no help and you could not use the Charter OnDemand either. Good luck

that's awful! Time Warner had a hard time when the tivo came out with cable cards. No one knew how to do that for a while but we eventually got it to work

Love my Roamio. The first one I got was a dud though, complete mess trying to set it up. Finally Tivo determined they needed to exchange it, told my hubby they wouldn't put a hold on my card but then did and it took a week for the new one to get here. The new one worked flawlessly. Reading their forums this is not an uncommon issue. I would buy from Best Buy so that it's easily exchangeable if you have a problem. They should price match Tivo's prices.

I bought my Series 3s with lifetime already on them, both used for around $240 each.

We have had them about 3 years now.

That breaks down to $6.66 per month but that also includes the machine.

I am satisfied with Series 3s and unless they break/die, I don't need anything more.

We have them hooked up to an antenna and only get OTA channels.

We had Directv but I found that 90% of the time I was watching channels and shows on Network TV and what I wanted most was the ability to pause live TV and record.

Our two Tivos have filled that need.

mine have lasted so long, I believe the lifetime subscription is worth it. this is the first one I've had a problem with. I haven't even called tivo to see if it can be easily fixed. I just know I want to put it down by the treadmill so it's ok that it's not holding as many hours of tv as it is supposed to.

I really like my Roamio. I have the entry level one as I still have a Series 3 that is working well for my other TV.

I've been a Tivo fan since 2001!

I just adore them, i haven't watched a commercial in 12 yrs! I can't stand the cable company DVR

I hear ya! I work for a cable company and could get their DVR greatly discounted but I won't give up my Tivo!

I got a roamio for Christmas. I love it. It has 6 receivers so my husband has yet to not be able live TV while I'm recording. Worth every penny!

I haven't tried that but I wouldn't recommend my cable one! I had Tivo for many years and it started to give me some problems and we had it on the basement TV which made it difficult to watch since I'm not down there that much. So I decided to get the cable company (Cablevision) DVR on the family room TV and it's horrible! My 10 year old Tivo has better technology! I have had so many problems with the DVR, I'm on my 4th one! Plus it doesn't do so many things that Tivo can! Good luck!
