Hey Everyone -

Well, I've finished about 30 pages now (a dozen 2-pg layouts, and six or so single pages) thanks to all the great help on this forum. I'm so glad I started scrapping now, because when I go on my next trip in a few weeks I have triple excuse to take lots of great pics. I even made a list of some of the things I'll want for pages...is that normal? LOL.

Anyway, the one thing I haven'td one yet is add titles and simple journaling. All of the pages I have done have either been character/autograph pages that just need a date, and ride tributes/etc. that just need a bit of captioning.

I've seen some great print outs using Waltograph and other typefaces (and don't need any help in that regard), but my question is : what kinds of papers work best for printing? I saw some excellent ones done on vellum in another thread, but wonder what kind of vellum is good for printing on to. I'd be afraid on most it would run.

Thanks so much for any advice!

I print right on cardstock I set the settings on the printer for heavy weight paper. Same thing for transparency paper and vellum I have a setting for transparency. They won't run but may smudge if they aren't dry. I just let them sit out for a few minutes. If you hold the printed paper at an angle under the light you will see where the ink is still wet. The transparency sheets I used were by Hammerhill, DH bought them at staples.

To just add dates have you tried a dymo labeler? you know the ones that you rotate the dial for the letter you want and squeeze the handle?

And yes making a list of pics is totally normal in our line of work! LOL

Hehe, thanks - I don't feel so bad. It's going to be my first time at WDW during Christmas, and I want to make sure I get as many pics as possible. I've been scrapping my MNSSHP trips from the last couple of years, and realizing I should have taken MANY more pictures. I bought a ton of halloween paper and then realized I just didn't have a ton of pics. That won't be the case next time. ;)

I'm going to give it a wing tomorrow. I am going into JoAnn's for the cardstock sale and I'm going to try to find a couple of pieces of vellum to start with. Of course I didn't think of this during the sale last week...but I got about 150 sheets during the 5/$1 sale, so I didn't do badly LOL.

I must have one of those Dynamo ones somewhere, hehe...but I'm really in love with a few fonts I've found and the typefaces are what's going to tie my pages together. I love to take pictures of the inside of rides and I've done a Splash Mountain layout, and tonight am working on my Evil Queen (snow white) and Pooh ride layouts.

Thanks for the continued great advice!

We went at xmas last year, you have to get shots of all the trees. AK, MK, Epcot, the resorts, etc. Lots of stuff to get pics of at Epcot in the countries. DS10 saw a really cool shot of one of the stars on Hollywood Blvd? main street at MGM, positioned right it looks like it is on top of the hat. Very cool! Oh and they had character trees on the camp minnie mickey path. One for Simba. Timon, Donald, etc. I loved those. WE got some great close up shots of the ornaments.

Let me see if I can pull some up.

ACMOORE had a great sale on 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock last week. 12 for a dollar. I couldn't pass that one up.

I print on vellum all the time. I actually purchased some from Hewlett Packard and it works really well. But I do let it set out for a while to dry, and even still, if you rub on it to stick it, it will smear. So, I've learned a little trick to keep that from happening. After you know it's dry, cut it out, and get ready to stick it, just lay it down where you want it on your layout, then take a scrap peice of paper, place over the vellum and rub that paper over the top of it, not letting the scrap peice of paper slide. Then just pick up the scrap paper. There may be a little ink on the back of your scrap paper but the vellum didn't smear.

Wow, just saw those pics, BernardandMissBianca. I'm so excited! LOL.

And great tip, TracieD. I'll definately try that.

What I'd love to find is material like the Sandylion stickers are on...at first I thought I didn't like them because in the package it looks like all the stickers have white borders. I was thrilled when I started using them and saw how seamlessly they worked with those transparent sides. They just blend in with everything!

I love the EK Success/Jolie's 3-d stickers, but the Sandylion ones are really neat and honestly look the most striking in some of my LO.

I know what you mean they are seamless.

I was so surprised. In many ways, I think I prefer them to the 3-D ones, and they are cheaper to boot.

I need to go to my LSS soon. I haven't been there since I discovered how cool those stickers were, and I believe they have some on rolls that I haven't seen elsewhere. I think they are the same style - but I overlooked them the first time because I was afraid they had the yucky borders. I'm pretty sure they had Ariel there...yikes, I'm almost talking myself into going right now.

Grrr...I'm going to give it 1/2 hour and see if the craving goes away. LOL.

LOL I hereby call this meeting to order.

I fought the craving and won - for now! I realized that while I did want to go check out the princess stickers, I'm in the middle of my Pooh layout right now (I think it's going to be a 6-pager like my Snow White's Scary Adventures one) and my AK one is up next...it will be awhile before I do more princess stuff, so I decided to be strong!

Now I've got my swap stuff I can start my Disney album :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

Trouble is I'm also doing one each for my boys and have got nearly to 3rd birthday - for DS13! And DS 7-on-Wednesday keeps saying "When are you going to do pics of me?"

I just added up what I need from CM and it comes to over £100 before discount - I need a crop so I can fudge my stuff in with other orders - DH won't realise my friends have only spent £10 each :guilty:

LOL I keep hearing about these swaps...how does one become involved? Can anyone point me to a thread that explains it all?

Here you go. It's a sticky in the swap forum. There aren't any going on until after the new year, we will have some for newbies(new to swapping) and for the vets.

Oh my goodness...

That is one crazy forum. Looks like so much fun though. I checked out a bunch of pics of older swaps and some of those are REALLY cool.

I'd love to get in on one of the full-park ones...how neat is that, so many people working together?

And I've got to wait until next year????

Oh well, I better be practicin' anyway...I'm still to shy to show my pages on here, but I'm hoping confidence will grow as I get "better". My Pooh ride layout is staring me in the face right now...curse laptop and scrappin' on the same table LOL.

Step away from the Pooh ride. If it really gives you trouble seriously put it away for a few days. You may get a new perspective.

LOL it's not really a problem. Just procrastinating. All of a sudden I'll stop and then spend an hour or two putting it together. The tedius work is done - all the photos are matted, etc. Now I just have to do the fun creative part.

But DIS is so addictive...if only people would stop turning me on to new forums and threads that are vitally interesting. :P

Sorry guilty as charged :guilty:
I shall leave you to Pooh, I need to feed the munchkins anyway, you would think I starve them to death the way they are acting. LOL

Good night Mary, good night Walter, good night John boy.....

I printed some logos and titles onto vellum yesterday and they came out all fuzzy! I set it to the best print quality and set it to glossy (as the paper is quite stiff) and they looked sort of blurry compared with the test version I did on standard paper. I've used CM chiffon vellum - any suggestions what went wrong?
