Give me a break. Our closing for the sale of our DVC points is on hold because the title company lost our cashiers check for our dues. We sent it in 3 weeks ago!! Why didn't we get notified that they didn't have it? Now WE have to run around, sign paper work at the bank, stop payment on that check....

And to top it all off the title company people told my husband: "Well interest is gonna accrue on your loan because it was delayed." Hey lady! How about the title company pay the interest?!?!

Did they lose it or just not have it? There are other possibilities besides they lost it, like it never got to them. I would expect if they know they lost it that they would cover any additional charges. If they simply don't have it and never received it, then it would and should not be their responsibility for any additional costs.

We sent it in with all our paperwork mid-Dec. They just don't have it. Because it's a cashier's check, the money is already gone out of our bank, but the check is not cashed and the banker called us back she remembered dinstinctly helping us write out the check to the title company. The check was mailed with paperwork.

I also called the title company at the end of December and was told everything was there and they were just waiting on the buyer. I guess they tried to close a week ago, never told us, and put a note in our file that the check was not there. We just got the call today that they can't find the check.

They said they are going to cover the cost of the stop payment on the check, but we still have to run around and take care of it -- and wait for the refund of the stop payment fee. Not cool.

I'm sorry that happened but it seems all they can do is cover the added costs associated. They are not going to compensate you for the additional work, time and aggravation.

Of course, not, I'm not expecting them too - but I'm just frustrated at the level of customer service. It shouldn't have been ignored. And I think I'm allowed to be extremely aggravated by this and want to forewarn other customers who may be sending cashier's checks.

Agreed, they should have let you know previously. I believe there have been 2 or 3 threads over the past few years about similar issues.

I hear ya! We just had issues with getting money to the title company using a transfer... They have been totally unresponsive about the whole closing anyway. I'm highly irritated.

I agree that it shouldn't have been ignored and I understand your frustration of having to spend more of your time to get it all straightened out. I hope it all gets straightened out for you soon.

The Timeshare Store, Inc.® does uses closing companies that require a cashier check to be sent at the time of closing. This, for the most part, has worked well, however, if other customers are concerned they are able to wire the final funds. If that is your desire please contact your appropriate closing company and they will send you the details along with the fees that may be involved.
