Titanic the Experience

Has anyone tried Titanic the Experience? How good is this exhibit? It looks really interesting. What is the best way to get here without having a rental car?

I'm really interested in this too. They will have it in Conneticut while we are visiting family on LI.

I was there in 2005 (I think?). The people I was with weren't Disney people, so they wanted to do other stuff. As I recall, it was rather interesting. Maybe not the best for young children, but it was a nice change of pace and enjoy the air conditioning, especially the glacier.

I believe this closed sometime last year. Not completely sure but i am pretty sure I read this.

We went to the one in Vegas and thought it was really neat. I was afraid it was going to be boring, but it was really interesting, even if you're not a Titanic buff. There were some nice surprises in the exhibit that I wasn't expecting to see and the artifacts are so neat to see in person.

Do they allow you to take pictures?

if it is the same one in vegas you are not permitted to take pics of any kind, it destorys the artifcats. but they do have a few back drop pics they will take for you

When we visited in May 2007, we were able to take pictures. I looked back at the pictures and we were even able to use a flash. We found it expensive, though we had a 2 for 1 coupon from the Entertainment Book, so the price was right with the coupon.
Overall it was good and enjoyable, it was a guided tour but you could also lag behind the group somewhat if you wanted to spend more time looking.

We went in 2005....I found it to be very interesting and informative. At the beginning of the tour you are given a ticket with the name of one of the passengers that were aboard the ship that night. They took you through a certain part of the ship, like the radio room and then out on to the deck to see how cold it was that night (loved that air conditioner) into where the relics that have been recovered were, you saw life vests a deck chair and many other things. And at the end you were taken over to a wall that listed the passenger names and if they survived or died. You then look at the name on your ticket that they had given you to see what had happened to them. I am happy to say that I was one of the 705 survivors that very cold night in the North Atlantic on April 15,1912. Brought a tear to my eye it did. You will enjoy and be saddened by this experience.

We visited one of the graveyards in Halifax NS where 121 victims are memorialized. It is truely an inspiring and yet haunting experience.

An interesting note is that all of the markers show a date of April 15, 1912, the day after that faithful night. This was due to them believing that most of the victims actually passed on the 15th since the ship was not fully submerged until early morning on the 15th.

I went before the whole eviction/moving thing. It was fun! We got our little paper with a name on it - mine was Molly Brown, so there was no "Survive or No?" experience for me. Our guide did a great job of keeping us entertained (they play parts) and informed.

The guide takes you through each of the rooms, but when they're done, you can go back through. You could linger behind, I guess, but you'd miss out.

I loved seeing original boarding passes and such.

I figured it would just be a cheap way to pass a rainy day, but ended up liking it very much.

Never been to the one in Orlando, but as a huuuge Titanic obsessor, I'd LOVE to go.

I recently went to the exhibit in Toronto, and found it to be amazzzing.
I was upset that I couldn't take pics, but I mean, it's understanable considering how delicate the artifacts are.

This one was one of the exhibits where you get a ticket with a nam @ the beginning, and like Cool-Beans, my dad got a well-known person who didn't survive, so there was no "survive or not" game for him either (he got Bejamin Guggenheim)
But really, it's worth it if you're remotely interested in the Titanic! (if it's at all like the one in Toronto)

The one in Conneticut is not the same as the one in Orlando/Tampa. We have Titantic the Artifact Exhibit in Phoenix right now (closes next week I think). Hartford CT is one of the stops, so it might be part of the same company. Here's a website on it: http://www.rmstitanic.net


BUT....the Orlando one has moved to the Science Center in Tampa, and it's not nearly as good as the travelling exhibit that I mentioned above. The one here in Phoenix has a lot of factual information about the genuine pieces that it's showing. The one in Tampa is a lot of hype and stories, and frankly, the pieces just didn't look quite "right". My daughter has been a huge fan of anything Titanic for over 5 years and she was spouting off things the Tampa exhibit got wrong (and not just her young opinion, but from some of the very scholarly books she's read on the subject and talks she has had with a man who was part of a dive to retrieve artifacts and catalog them). She was polite about pointing out the things that weren't accurate, but I can tell you that the docents at the Tampa exhibit were not pleased with her....a few were getting a bit testy about it, so I had to tell her to just drop it as they weren't interested in truth, just in their exhibit. THis made her pretty sad.
