Titanic Exhibit?

Oh....what a touching story Dan! I guess it was a "sign" that Marie would get to live!! How wonderful is that??!! ;)

I just wanted to add that the traveling exhibit also includes costumed guides that will answer in character - at least the one in Detroit did. Ours also included a 'cold room' to simulate the conditions that night.

I was in Orlando in 2001 and didn't have time to go to WDW (I was there for a work related seminar). I saw a brochure in the hotel for the Titanic exhibit and decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed it. I saw the travelling exhibit here in Houston last year and while the two are comparable, they are different enough to want to see both.

Thanks all for such positive reviews!! Now I'm really excited about taking DS to the Titanic Exhibit! I wish we had gone to the traveling exhibit when it was here in Detroit! We will surely hit the exhibit next time we're in FL!

Oh & one more thing....at the cemetery where my Mom is, there was a gentleman who was a Titanic survivor. He would have been aproximately 5 y/o at the time & from the inscription on his (huge) monument, there is a story about how he was raised by nuns due to his parents dying in this tragedy (he lived till the ripe old age of 86). Also, over this story is a huge etched picture of the Titanic. It's pretty awesome. My son likes me to drive past it each time we go to the cemetery & in nice weather, he will go stand by the gravesite & gently stroke the Titanic etching. I can't help but wonder if a boy so young is so fascinated by this story, could there be reincarnation & he was a lost soul from the Titanic tragedy??? Hmmm...... (I guess that could be another thread!) :teeth:

Many thanks again!!:wave2:

SSB has enjoyed it (been twice)... but it is very different I feel than the travelling one, which I saw in Seattle, WA.

The Orlando one is heavy on the "feel" ... but VERY few actual artifacts from the Titanic itself. They use pieces from her sister ships of the time, and such. I think the only two authentic items when last there was a deck chair, and a life jacket... that was it... compared to a slew of actual articles in the travelling one including part of the ship with a porthole (found that the most awe inspiring of all).

Both are good, but should be aware of the differences.

:D I'm another who has seen the Orlando Titanic exhibit and really enjoyed it. Well worth the admission price (when you use your discount coupon of course ;) ).

:D Beauty,
I remember when you posted that picture of your mom with the ghost. Pretty neat :D !

Hi,

I didn’t read all of the replies so something I add might have been mentioned..

We went a few years ago and loved it…

As I recall it was a little hard to find…it is behind a strip mall or something. As were waiting for it to open…we heard to loud booms…we thought it was from inside the exhibit..but it turned out to be the two booms from the space shuttle landing that day..cool.

The CM’s were great…they are in character and they don’t come out of it. The CM’s switch off as you go through the exhibit. For one part of our tour we had a 3rd class passenger…he was mocking on all of the rich 1st class passengers..he even starting mocking on our little group of 20. A young girl had on a mini skirt the guy kept asking her how they let her on the ship with it..I think he called her a lady of the evening..

He turned his attention to me but before he could come out with a wise crack I gave him “the look” and he shut his mouth.

After he was done and we switched off to another CM..I said to him that is doing a great job impersonating a 3rd class passenger…he say what are you talking about ..I am a 3rd class passenger…pretty funny.

I will add one more thing…without giving too much away…I was the only member of our group that died on the Titanic…lucky me.

SSB I remember the chair....the picture where I felt so cold is on the right wall as you are standing looking at that chair.

It gives me chills just thinking about it.

Oh my Gosh....I'm just so excited about going now!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I won't be able to contain myself!! I think I want to go now more than my DS!!

Thanks for the information!!

Beth, I read a post that says you posted the photo of your Mom with the ghost...can you re-post it on this thread??? I'm sure lots of people would be interested in seeing that!! I know I would!!

Charlie,nj ~ thanks for the Titanic Exhibit link too!

Let me """"HOPE""""" that search is working and see if I can find the post. Someone did a really good job of outlining the face...its hard to see in the scan...

Darn it search is disabled. I wish I had saved that pic that the person had outlined....let me go see what I have in imagestation.

Okay here is the picture.....the captain's face is in between my mom and the captain statue. He has his hat on and hes looking to the side....its so hard to see in this scan.

Here is a close up look directly under the flash light to the right. You can see the emblem on his hat, his face, his beard and then his shoulders...

There were NO Pictures in the room, only the big statue you see in the first pic and as you can see there is no hat on the captain. We have no doubt he wanted to really be included in the picture. Hope you can make him out. Its very eery and real in the real pic.

No, but I have been to the Titanic Exhibet in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada. It was amazing.

:Pinkbounc :earseek: I can see the hat with the emblem on it!! I can't really make out the face, but I certainly can see the hat!! :earseek: Wow!!! I can't wait till Nicholas gets home from school to show him!! (Or maybe I won't!! He may not want to go then if he knows there could be a ghost!!) :(

Thanks so much Beth!! You are so exciting to know!! :teeth:

Rose....LOL!!!!

It was hillarious with John-Cole in there knowing the place is haunted. He was holding on to me so tight...ROTFLOL!

I find the whole haunting, reincarnation, paranormal so exciting. I have begged John to do the Ghost Tour in both Orlando and New Orleans and he won't do it....scardy cat.

The "supposed" Most Haunted House in America is only 2 hours away from us. Its Thy Myrtles in St. Francisville Louisiana.....will John take me??? NOPE!!!!!

Oh and Oak Alley isn't far either....John says if he took me there and he saw a ghost all you would see is his skinny impressions through all those Oak Trees lining the drive where he has run away....hes so goofy.

The first time I went to the Orlando Exhibit, my ticket had the name of Athol Broome. I knew that he was a room steward who died because when I saw the traveling exhibit from RMS Titanic in St. Petersburg, his uniform jacket was on display. The jacket is pictured in the book I got at the exhibit

A very good Titanic website is
