Tissue Time: What makes you cry at Disney?

We just got back on Monday from our first trip to DL....so there were lots of "tissue moments":

Hearing that "magical" sound when they scan your ticket for the first time.

Reading to my kiddos the plaque on the bridge as you enter.

Seeing DS6's eyes light up at the Pixar Parade when THE Lightning McQueen rolled by.

Seeing DD8's eyes light up when Tinkerbell flew over us at the beginning of the fireworks.

Fantasmic!

The end of Soarin' when everyone who was on it claps!

I just remembered one other thing that makes me tear up each time:

walking to the train station in Tomorrowland as my eyes and sinuses fill with cigarette smoke. gag. . . cough. . . snark ;)

Ooh, ActionVaughn, the end of Soarin' gets me too. When Disneyland (all lit up at night) comes on screen . . . gets me every time.

And, flag retreat. Tears rolling, not just teary eyed.

And, Fantasmic!

And, so many others. I'm glad to know I'm not the only overly-emotional person in Disneyland.

(Last trip, went for 3 days alone for my birthday. Had a great time. But, the last night, getting ready to watch the Parade again, I saw something that got me to cryin' and I could not stop. I just started sobbing. I thought, "I better get out of here before I scare some little kids". So, I left. Just bawled all the way back to the hotel. It was a good half hour before I got the waterworks shut off. I think (hope) it was just hormones. Menopause is NOT for sissies.)

For me personally, flag retreat and anything Walt, especially quotes and the Walt and Mickey statue in front of SBC. Also, just watching my kids enjoy the park tears me up in a good way. :lovestruc

I also get a little teary when I see kids meeting the characters that they're dressed up as (ex. a little girl in a Belle dress meeting Belle) because you know that meeting that character will be the highlight of their trip.

So many of the things mentioned make me teary eyed also. I am such a sap!
The last time we went though my dd who was there for her 3rd birthday kept waving to all the characters on our 2nd day there saying "Hi friend". When she saw Minnie from a distance she shouted and waved "Hey Minnie see you at my birthday party!" I just loved how she overcame her shyness and felt so at home there with her new "friends". She came home telling everyone about how her new friend Minnie came to her birthday party along with some of her other new friends.:lovestruc

Fireworks and Kelly Coffee (I think that's the singer's name) singing Remember and White Christmas at the end of the Xmas show. Illuminations at Epcot...What makes the fireworks shows for me is the way Disney incorporates the music and song selections and times it with the fireworks. It's the icing on the cake....A lot of companies put on fireworks shows, but nobody does it like Disney!

Watching my sons face during the fireworks does it to me. This last trip...it was DEP. We missed it last year and it always was so special to me growing up. We have the music on a cd and my son asks me to play it in the car all the time. Hearing it there at the park and seeing my sons face light up and his excitement just really put me in tears this time.

And I'm with you...the last day. Walking away is so hard.

For me, it's Flag Retreat and seeing the respect and reverence of the crowd. The first time I saw it my son was in Iraq and it was almost too much to bear. Teary-eyed is an understatement.

The fireworks sometimes make me teary-eyed, and my DF's proposal really got me. That is the only time I have really cried in Disneyland. I expected a proposal, but didn't expect to cry!!! :goodvibes

Excerpt from my trip report:
"We made a slight detour to the right side of the castle towards the wishing well. Snow White started singing, so my dad tells me to go do my thing (I pretend I am singing with it). As I walk over to the railing and watch the fish spinning around in the water (never noticed this before), I notice that everyone is following me, including the photographer (who took photos of all of us in front of the castle). I knew something was going on, and I knew what would be happening very soon at this point. Jared came up next to me, and to calm my nerves, I pointed out the fish and the fact that the statues of Snow White and the dwarfs are all really the same size. He then says, “I have a question for you.” (“Here it comes.”) He then turns to me, opens his hand to reveal a beautiful ring and asks, “Will you marry me?” As soon as I saw the ring, I started crying and somehow got out “Yes,” “Of course,” or something like that! The photographer took photos as the proposal happened and more pictures of the two of us after. I wish I had got her name because she was really wonderful!"

I love reading this kind of thread!
I actually have never been to DL(looooking fooorward to,but I'm brazilian, and is so hard to find travel agencies that can help us),but my last trip to WDW was so wonderfull, lots of thing made me teary-eyed!
The little girls were so excited at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and they looked so cute all dressep up like princesses..Seeing little girls meeting princesses or dressed like princess always make me teary-eyed!:lovestruc

The snowfall after the fireworks is my very favorite thing.

I grew up in OH and now live out in the desert where it doesn't snow and so the DL snowfall is the only one I typically see each year. DH and I have made it a tradition to always go to DL during the holiday season and every year I get a little teary eyed during the snowfall.

However, this past December I sobbed out loud as I watched DH (29) try to catch a snowflake as he always does, but this time had our DS (4 months) strapped to his chest in the Snuggli. It was a truly magical moment and got me so excited for the magic of the years to come.

The DL Santa back in Woody's Round-Up also got me crying when he looked at me and looked at DS and whispered to me that it looked like my Christmas wish had already been granted this year. He couldn't have possibly known that the previous Christmas ('06) that I had told my DH that I wanted a baby for Christmas '07. Suffice it to say my wish was granted and somehow Santa knew!:lovestruc

Alright alright alright!!! Pass the tissues!!! You've all got me going, especially Cheshiregirl and Cutedisneygirly.

My favorite memories make me tear up. Like when it was just me and dad because they had just adopted my baby sister so we had to cancel our week trip. Dad took me for three days instead and one of the nights we rode BTMRR 7 times in a row until the park closed at midnight. Oh! and being on his shoulders fo fireworks.

CUTE!!! :cutie: I absolutely love this story! :lovestruc I laughed at "Hey Minnie, see you at my party!"

On POTC when you're floating past the fireflies and gators and ..um people chompin' on food lol. But its still quiet and peaceful and that wonderful smell that the ride has (like a musty basement). I just get a little overwhelmed at the magic of it all.pirate:

Wishes....the song after the fireworks are over. And Mickey appearing on top of the mountain at the end of Fantasmic with all the climactic music and the cheering crowd :sad1: . It gets me every time.
