Tired of hearing the bad stuff

My family and I took our first out of state family vacation to WDW in March 03. We LOVED it! We only spent one day at MK and one at MGM because we also wanted to experience other Orlando attractions. That was a waste of time. Universal Studios didn't have any of the "magic" (Back to the Future is outdated and quite boring.) and Wet N' Wild was too ordinary.

We plan on making WDW an annual tradition. I am going through withdrawals because we may not make our 2004 trip due to schedule conflicts. :( .

As for this topic, I thought WDW was clean, fun & full of magic. I do think that cutbacks for the sake of profits is poor business management. When profits are down that is the time to make investments into your business, i.e. advertising, maintenance, new attractions. When profits are high that is the time to manage & maintain and save for slow times. The fact that ME makes cuts for profits is discouraging. Hopefully his announcement that he is leaving will infuse some new life back into the overall management of WDW.

That being said, I still want to visit "the happiest place on earth" every year.

People will complain about anything.
Does that make all comlaints invalid?

All the complaining in the world will not change the way it is...
Some do more than just "complain". They discuss and suggest.

How do you suggest one should try to bring about change?

Hopefully, there are enough CM's who participate in these threads that the messages ( or complaints if you prefer) we are trying to convey will not fall on deaf ears. I would like to think Disney monitors this board and uses us for an unofficial exit poll...so too speak.

We all love Disney. That's why we DO point out some things that will IMPROVE the Disney experience for the rest of the world. You correct your child out of love. As Disney fans, we correct the bad management decisons so we can keep the magic alive.

Don't get mad at the negative posts...instead, take it out on Michael Eisner. True Disney fans point out the truth. You can't keep your rose colored glasses on forever.

And when you see "Wishes" for the first, second,third......... time, be sure to thank Michael also.

What makes you think he had anything to do with it?

If ME's going to get the blame for everything that is wrong with Disney, then he has to get credit for what is right.

Wow...in one thread I'm able to point out two reasons I'm still in Car 2.

We all know he has little to do with things like Wishes, just as I'm sure he had little to do with Triceratops Spin.

Directly, at least.

What he is responsible for is creating and managing an environment that doesn't produce nearly as many "Wishes" as it could, and more Triceratops Spins than it should.

I agree.

But IMO we are starting to see more "Wishes" the "Spins".

Hey, if we suspect Disney reads our complaints here about what is wrong, it's only fair they read from us what is right.

A concept that apparently is beyond the comprehension of some! However, it is right on the money!!

Unless you think Eisner now "gets it", it doesn't really matter. We're just another "negative economic event" away from another lockdown.

The one thing I can say is that current park management is an improvement over the last regime, and of course that will have practical impacts.

But just as we've seen high points earlier in Eisner's reign, we are bound to get more low points if an Eisner-like reign continues.

The real reason for hope is not so much what has been changing, as much as what kind of leadership takes over in the next year or two. But that's a crapshoot at best.

While I don't believe ME "gets it" I do believe he loves Disney. However, it does appear now that many of the park managers do "get it" to a much greater degree. Right now Disney is on a roll with the economy getting better and people feeling safer away from home. I also think ME wants to go out on top in the eyes of his peers and at the rate things are going I believe the Wall Street types will be very impressed. Quite frankly, the big winner in his exit stratagy is you and I.

While ME may not "get it", the end result for now is that the parks are "getting it".

It will take time to undue Michael Eisner's damage to the parks. By building Mt. Everest ride at AK, it's a step in the right direction. As soon as Michael Ei$ner leaves, it will get a whole lot better.

:rockband: :worship: :cool1:

E:E is a definite move in the right direction for me. I hear the construction phase is ahead of schedule.

However, I hope that only means the internal design masters will be afforded additional time - not that a push to complete within the DL anniversary window is being targeted to showcase a new exhibit at every park.

The real reason for hope is not so much what has been changing, as much as what kind of leadership takes over in the next year or two.

What has been changing is critically important to this company because it reflects progress. Sure, new leadership is a big dynamic - particularly for animation, but as far as the themeparks are concerned, I don't see the investment falling short.

What I really want to know is: will they have their 5 bil to play with at the end of the day this year?
