Tips to ride the teacups with Alice...

My kids got to ride the teacups with Alice on 6/16. We showed up that morning a little before her first meet with both kids in costume. Though we weren't first in line, Alice walked straight up to my kids as soon as she came out and asked them if they'd like to go for a ride with her. They were shocked and thrilled and it was wonderful. My only tips: get there early, stand out in some way, and don't expect anything! :)

They look adorable! She has a Cheshire Cat costume, maybe she should wear that!

I hate posts like this. It's posts ike this that makes things like that go away.

Not sure why that would be. I think it it fine for someone to ask what others have done that upped their chances. So there are more people dressed like Alice characters, and more people for Alice to choose from. Don't see that a big deal. You can't go into anything at Disney expecting it and my daughter is old enough that she will not be heartbroken. She often gets picked on for wearing Disney attire, I thought this would be nice for her.

If you don't like a post, move on.

We got lucky and were able to ride with Alice and the Mad Hatter in December. We knew this was a possibility going in, so we got there at rope drop and went right to the spot where Alice meets. We were the first in line and waited about 15 minutes before she came out. When she came out she just grabbed my girls hands and said "let's have some tea shall we" and we were escorted over to take photos and the photopass people did as well. Great experience!!

I bet! Thanks for sharing! My daughter would be thrilled!

We saw you! Not on the ride but I think you were headed that way. My DDs thought the outfits were awesome and you were goals for their own kids someday. So good to see a boy in costume too, but we wondered if he was hot!

Small world! Thanks. :) And omg, we got asked about him being hot soooo many times over the course of our trip (my mil sews, we have a lot of costumes). He was fine. This was at 8:20am and he changed out of it literally right after we met her. He was only in costumes for short periods of time in order to meet the characters in costume, as it's his favorite thing to do, then he would change right out. He actually enjoys being in them so much that I sometimes had to fight him to get him to take them off because of the heat. He often wanted to keep hydrating and suffer for his art. ;) It was definitely a hot week!

They look adorable! She has a Cheshire Cat costume, maybe she should wear that!

Thank you! I think Cheshire Cat would be awesome, and probably not seen a lot.

I watched Alice and hatter ride with a infant girl and her young parents in May. The girl was dressed up as Alice and they were first in line at her meet about 915 A.M.

I was just going to post about that. We must have both been there on the same day. May 7th, right. :flower1:

To OP, be first in line and have your daughter dressed as Alice.

On my DD's first trip to Disney we did rope drop and entered Fantasyland via the teacups (this was in August 2010). As we were coming up to the teacups we saw Alice & the White Rabbit. We all waved at Alice and she came over and asked DD to ride on the teacups with her. It was completely unexpected! So, if it's going to happen my guess would be soon after rope drop and when she's on her way to the meet & greet.

Does anyone know if this happens at DLR? DD's favorite ride is Tea Cups, and we're likely to head to it first thing anyway because of that. I'm not looking for strategies or anything, and would never expect it to happen (or tell DD about it). Just wondering if it happens at all.

Andy's Coming was dangerous and damaging to the costumes and something that could happen over and over. The Alice thing is something that will only happen once a day at most no matter what. Disney got rid of the other things because they are cheap and have been cutting out the magical things for years, not because of an internet post.

I know I have said this before, but the costumes you make are incredible :)

Thank you! :flower3: I enjoyed pulling those photos out and revisiting some fun memories.

I have seen the Alice characters ride the Teacups in DL before, but it's been a while. Not sure what's typical these days though. When we saw it years ago the whole crew came out (Alice, QoH, MH and maybe even some Tweedles). Very cool to watch!

So there is actual evidence pointing to this message board as the reason certain "magical" things no longer exist?
This particular message board, no, though it's surely one of the largest Disney-related boards.

The internet as a whole, yes. Many of these special things survived for many years until the internet, for better or worse, made it much easier for people to share tips & thus a lot of things that were intended to be reserved for unexpected special touches became things that everyone felt entitled to.
