Tips to predict military rates?

I’m currently booked on a 7 night sailing in April 2026 on the treasure.

Has anyone notice a pattern to which cruises will offer a military rate?

There are currently 128 empty rooms on the ship which seems like a lot compared to the same itinerary 2wks before ours which has 17 empty rooms.

Trying to decide if I should cancel my cruise and hope any cruise comes up that week with a military rate.

I'm in the same boat (literally and figuratively) and I'm waiting until closer to final payment to decide. That being said, I'm looking to switch from April to January, which has a much higher likelihood of being discounted. I'd still wait, even if I wasn't planning to change the dates, but looking at the rest of this year, I think discounts are likely unless something changes politically in the US (I'm not discussing the politics just pointing out the facts, travel is down and Disney + just lost a bunch of subscribers).

DCL doesn't always list all of their available inventory online. So, looking at empty rooms online for any particular sailing may or may not actually be a good indicator of how full the sailing is.

Only you can decide really how willing you are to gamble. For me, if I want to cruise, I'm booking the cruise. If a discount comes along later on then I'll deal with it. But that's just me, others may feel differently.

It is interesting to me that so far they are holding back on the 2026 incentives/promotions overall. Not sure what that means and when they will go in that direction.

The Treasure pricing needs to calm down a little bit - I think once the Destiny comes online that will increase the chances of Treasure promotions.

Treasure currently has 10 sailings with military rates plus several with FL resident rates. It looks like a rolling discount as final payment dates pass.

Military Discount Rates typically appear about three to four months before a cruise, though occasionally they’re released as early as six months out. In my experience—having only booked veranda cabins—a good sign that a Military Rate may be coming is the presence of a VGT (Verandah Guarantee) rate. Another clue is when the current cruise fare closely matches its original pricing (indicating lower demand).

As for newer ships, Disney Cruise Line didn’t begin offering Military Discounts on the Wish until its second year of service (January 2025). The same pattern is emerging with the Treasure, where Military Discounts have only recently started to appear.

Historically, the majority of Military Discounts were offered on cruises scheduled from September through April, but that too has appeared to change as there were several summer discounted cruises (including Alaska) offered this year.
