Tips to get out a set in stain?

It looks like I stained one of my favorite shirts with ketchup or bbq sauce. I didn't notice until after I had washed it in the normal cycle (probably sat in the hamper for 3-4 days) and went to wear it again. I've tried a shout stain remover and also letting it sit with tide on it but neither has worked once it comes out of the wash.

Any tips?

Well, if it's color fast you can try this. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Spray the set in stain with dow scrubbing bubbles. Let it sit a few seconds. You may see it actually lift the stain. Then wash.

Oxyclean as a paste helps sometimes too... it's really a matter of hit and miss (and fabric composition, along with the actual stain composition).

I prefer Zout instead of Shout. Works a lot better. Spray on and leave for a half hour before washing. I often have to run a badly stained garment through the wash twice before it comes out satisfactorily. Good luck.

I have been using the Oxyclean Max Force Gel stick on set-in stains and it has gotten out some grease stains that have been on my clothes for months! Same situation where I didn't realize the stain was there until after I washed it.

Also, have you tried Dawn? It takes the grease out of set in stains, we've used that method plenty of times too! The Zout is a triple enzyme formula and it also works great!

I tried that new Tide Stain Release on a very old set in stain. I applied it and let it set over night. The stuff really worked and I had tried everything up until then.

I have a 2 yr old, so I've battled my share of stains! I've had good luck with Oxyclean, even after mistakenly putting something with a stain through the dryer (the heat usually sets the stain even further). I make a paste per the directions, let it sit for a while, rinse and then put through the washer again. I've never had to do this twice since the stain always comes out on the first try with the oxyclean.

Off Topic, just a little. I get a kick out of a commercial for a stain removal product that I cannot remember the name of. It states in the ad that bleach only covers the stain it doesn't make it go away.

My feeling is...if I can't see it, then by god, it's gone. Cover it up? With what...invisability? It might just be me but sometimes I think that advertising agencies think we are all totally stupid.

Try Soilove...I usually get it at Stater's, it's in a lime green bottle. It's inexpensive and really works.
