I love reading through tip pages for upcoming WDW trips! I read extensively and still made a big mistake last trip. I thought it would be a good idea for us to post tips that we forgot to do last trip.

Here is mine:

We didn't pack swim suits/trunks in our carry on bag, only our checked bags. Of course it was hot and kids wanted to swim first thing. Our bags took hours to arrive by magical express. So we had to buy suits for all three boys. Pricy at Disney! This time they will be packed in our carry on along with our magic bands!!!

Anyone else have a tip?

I didn't think about how uncomfortable wet shoes would be to walk in after a water ride. This time I'll pack a cheap flip flops in my bag and swap them out for my shows just before riding. I'll keep the shoes and socks in a Zip Loc bag during the ride and put them back on after riding. Cheap flip flops take up very little space, as does the Zip Loc bag.

I threw apples and peanut butter in my suitcase for a healthy, fulfilling snack. I forgot to include a knife or apple slicer. Try to buy a knife in WDW - it ain't happening. My tip, bring a knife if you are bringing food that needs to be cut.

(my plan was to pre slice the apples in the room, not to try to smuggle a knife past security)

I should have taken a picture of the running shoes I had worn on my previous trip. I thought I had taken those on the trip last year but obviously not. VERY bad blisters on both my little toes. My Ecco sandals, that I had for a backup rubbed right on those blisters. I had to take a morning off :scared1:and go to an outlet mall to buy new shoes. What a waste of $150 (cab ride x2 and new runners). :(

As bulky as it may be, I always carry a backpack to the parks with everything we may need for the day: water bottles, umbrellas and ponchos, light snacks (cereal bars or bags of almonds) and a light jacket or sweater for me for the evenings or bus rides (DH usually doesn't get cold). We are rope drop to close kind of travelers when we are in Disney and I hate going back to the room for something when we are in the middle of having fun. Before buying the backpack, I walk around with it on in the store for a bit to make sure it is comfortable.
And to add to the PP, I never wear new shoes while in the World!

Plan potty breaks even for "older "kids before long rides with long waits . My son age 7 must have had too much jungle juice at Tucker house before.the K. Safari ride. We also had the luck of the tour being stopped midway for animal crossings. I did not know this, but the jeeps will wait as long as it takes for the animals to move. Poor DS was in pain holding it in. I was seriously about to.risk getting kicked out of AK BY having him Pee off the side of the jeep.

We went about 3 1/2 years ago and the first day at MK it POURED and we got soaked. We purchased those Mickey Ponchos etc, but we were still soaked through. We had to purchase a new set of clothes in MK for my daughter and we bought new socks for ourselves and shirts. That was around $80 that we really did not have to spend.

So now when we go we bring extra clothes for her (she is only 4) and a few extra things for ourselves. All very light stuff. It paid off our last trip when we got caught in the rain again.

Thankfully it was nothing like that first trip. I mean we were walking in water up to our ankles! :laundy:

This advice holds also true for the monorail. I hear of too many stories of being stuck on it due to unplanned stops.

I lost my Magic Band , somehow it fell off --luckily I had a print out of my
FP+ for the day and didn't have to line up in a LONG Kiosk line-up.
On my way out of MK I went to guest services and they issued a new Magic Band.

I also always travel with moleskin-never know when a blister is going to pop up,even when wearing old running shoes. Gift shops usually sell it but it is costly.

Have a great Holiday
Hugs Mel

1) Spray your feet and shoes/sneeks with arosol deodorant spray before putting them on. Helps keep feet dry and that can help prevent blisters.

2) We have a backpack that my DH brings into the parks but the neat thing about it is the bottom of it is a soft sided cooler. So we bring frozen water bottles and/or snacks/lunch. Easy to do and of course the bag gets lighter as you go along in your day. :)

If you enjoy getting that pedicure, don't do it the day before your trip. I had a wonderful pedicure the day before my trip last year, my feet were so wonderfully soft. Too soft as it turned out, in all my trips to Disney this was the first time I recall my feet aching and burning so bad. It's so, so important to keep your feet happy while at Disney!

Anti-chafing gel--amazing stuff!

To keep refillable mugs clean in your room: Buy some cheap thin sponges, cut into quarters, soak in dish soap and let dry. Store in a ziploc bag, when you need to wash the mug just add water and there's your dish soap. Use them a couple of times and toss in the trash. Takes up almost no room in luggage.

I LOVE this idea about the sponges! I absolutely hate having coffee in my mug and then rinsing it with water and trying to put pop in it. Terrible taste!

Subscribing!

I was looking through my TR from our last trip (sadly, 5 years ago) and I noticed that one of the things I'd mentioned was that I wish I'd been more organized with the paper-type things I was keeping. (maybe receipts, maybe other brochure type things I was keeping for scrapbooking or just journaling) - all I needed was one bag that was just for that sort of stuff I was keeping and taking home.....not a huge thing but I know myself and I like to keep some stuff but get stressed about clutter when I'm in a rush - so I'll try to remember that one.

Did this -- great advice. Both DD & I have the waterproof Keens, so that helped, too, but if you wear sneakers - change them out. DH, just put walmart bag around his feet. Also, bought Dollar Store rain slicker...disposable, but those in line will beg you for it. I passed mine along!

Excellent tip I learned when heading to the beach! Put those in the carry-on.

Dental floss works great in a pinch! Been there, done that!

My tip would be take ziplocs or save souvenir bags for wet things, dirty laundry and a kitchen size trashbag with pull. Very handy. Also, I like to bring envelopes and use the mickey stickers for Mousekeeping gratuity. The mini hand-sanitizer you can clip on your belt loop, too. Wick away socks.

Dollar shop rain ponchos are a big NO NO...they are ok for "normal" rain but if you get the usual Florida monsoons they are totally useless..they are not very long ( wet butt ) the hood wont stay up as its too flimsy ( wet head ) and the whole thing blows up with the least bit of breeze ( wet body )...believe me..we were cursing these up and down last year at Disney...in future we will either buy a Disney poncho or spring for a better one out of Target or somewhere.

Totally agree. They would be fine for Kali River Rapids or Splash Mountain. But for a real rain, they are next to worthless. Also they tear if you look at them funny.

Not for using in the rain, but for Kali or Splash Mountain as they were referring to wet shoes on a water ride, but I should've clarified. My bad. We haven't been in a downpour, so I was only using them for Kali. I hate a wet tookis!

Whenever we go on vacation, I bring a bag or envelope for each day and empty out our bags/pockets in it before we go to bed each night - receipts, brochures, maps, etc. I label them and might throw a journaling page in each bag if I'm feeling ambitious. So much easier than sorting through it all in one huge pile when we get home! Much easier to document our vacation if scrapbooking or smashbooking too.

Let DD take her own pictures. It's interesting to see what a 10 yr old takes pictures of vs what an adult takes pictures of. We just let DD make a Shutterfly book of last year's Spring Break Road Trip. Next time they offer free ones, we're going to let her document our Disney trips too! It's also neat to see what "makes the cut" into the book, and what doesn't.

and next time, I will not lose my KTTW card. Because I'll have a MB. Our last trip, I lost my KTTW card 3 times!
