Hi!! I am new to the board and I am leaving for Disneyland this Fri with my twin girls that will be 1 on Aug 1. I was hoping for any tips or advice for when we're in either parks and ride recommendations and rides to avoid with them?? Any advice would be much appreciated! :)

I would say, remember that everything will take at least 2-3 times as long as it would if you didn't have them with you, and definitely do well-lit rides first. (Don't start with Roger Rabbit--trust me on this.) I'd start with Jungle Cruise, Dumbo, etc. Things that are outside.

How are they with characters?

They will love It's a Small World. Also, Dumbo, the Carousel, the Soundsational Parade, Golden Horseshoe (they might like the music of the Billy's), Disney Junior Live on Stage, The Little Mermaid, Winnie the Pooh, The Enchanted Tiki Room and the Jungle Cruise.

I would avoid: Haunted Mansion, Roger Rabbit, Pirates of the Carribean, Monsters Inc., Alice in Wonderland., i.e., anything that has dark parts.

Aw, you guys are going to have a great time! Be sure to take plenty of pictures!
Some things I would recommend are taking some snacks and drinks in your diaper bag. I know you can buy these, but it is so much easier to have something you know they like when a meltdown is on hand! If they have anything they need for a nap, you may want to bring that as well, so they can fall asleep in the stroller when they get tired.
Otherwise, just take it slow, and let them kind of lead you. Start with the smaller, well-lit rides and work your way up. Don't pressure them to see characters if they don't want to, and just accept that it will be a different trip with them in tow.
You can also use child-swap if you want to experience any of the headliner rides. I'm sure you'll have a great trip. Just try and let it unfold, instead of having too many expectations up front. It will be awesome!

They have not experienced any characters yet so I am anxious to see how they are..

Look for the baby care centers! Mine were too old when we went last year but I've read here about folks going there for a/c breaks, diaper changes, chairs for nursing, filtered water, etc.
