Tips on rainy day activities

We plan to hang out at the pool and beach the day we are going to the MNSSHP and now I'm starting to wonder what we should do if it rains. I really don't want to wear the kids out at Disney Quest since we'll be at the party late that night. What are some of the things you've done at Disney in the rain that you loved?

I go to the parks in the rain! Being in the park when it is raining is my favorite time to be there, lines are short and in general I *love* the rain.

How about a trip to Wonderworks or Ripleys?? Great fun for an afternoon of rain!

I agree with pp to go to the parks in the rain. Most people leave when the rain starts so the lines are shorter and you can see so much more in less time. Then by the time everybody is coming back in, we head back for a shower and dry clothes then we're ready for the night! The rain is also less physically draining than the sun so we're not nearly as tired.

I agree with the others that say go to the parks. As long as you aren't threatened with thunder storms, I would just take the rain coats and go. We were at MK Sept '08 when it rained on and off all day. The park was practically empty. We didn't wait more than 5 minutes for anything. It was wonderful!!

We stay/go to the parks. There are fewer people so the lines are shorter. We always take an extra pair of shoes so that if they get wet we have dry ones for the next day. I don't mind wet clothes, they dry easily enough but I cannot do wet shoes. If you are already in the park by the time you get to the front and on a bus you are wet anyway, might as well keep going. Have a great trip!

Great Ideas. I think our "plan" for rain is put on our ponchos and keep going unless it starts topour too hard or lighting. Then its hide time! Plenty of places in the parks to go inside and wait too.

When you pack your bag for the day at the parks, put your folded dry ponchos in a medium-sized merchandise bag from the parks. After you use them, you can fold them loosely back up, put them in the merchandise bag and hang it on your stroller or on a backpack strap (maybe have a carabiner clip on it just for this.) They're easy to get to if you need them again, you don't have to carry wet ponchos over your arm, and you can unfold them and the bag to dry overnight to use again the next day.

We aren't afraid of rain at all, and I agree that the parks are a great place to be when it is raining. Our first day we plan to hang out at the beach and pool and the next day we are going to the MNNSHP so a park is out of the question that day....gotta rest up. I like the resort hop idea. We might put this on the list as a back up.

I hear you about resting up. I actually love walking around the Epcot resorts in the rain. You can hit Dolphin, Swan, Boardwalk, Beach and Yacht Clubs all in one go and hang out in their restaurants, lobbies, game rooms and shops.
