So, we're taking our boys to WDW in November on a surprise trip. We have family in FL, so we're telling them we're going to visit family. The looks on their faces as we drive under that big Disney arch will be priceless.... unless I spill the beans first...

I am so worried I will slip up. I am doing all my DisBoard surfing, etc after their bedtime.

Anyone else do this and pull it off? Pass on your tips for... well... for keeping your trap shut until the big day!!!

I am so right there with you. I'm glad my kids don't know I dis or i would be in trouble. I have my Passporter that i have hidden but its so hard. I am so excited now how will I make it until October? We need to make this our support group here:lmao:

I'm jumping right on board with you guys! I'm planning a surprise vacation for my DBF next summer for his high school graduation. I have a loooong way to go before we leave, so I'm gonna have to work extra hard to keep things a secret!!!

Any tips on how to keep my mouth shut would be great. Also, what are some creative ways of finally surprising them???

I get lucky on that one..... I plan on packing my kids while they are in school and the morning we leave I'm gonna wake them up like they are getting ready for school and then tell them. They are gonna die. We havent been in 3 years so I cant wait.

OMG too cute! Make sure someone is standing by with a video camera when you tell them and all the screaming begins!!!

I am going to try and keep everything stashed in my bedroom closet so they don't find it, but I just know one of us will make a slip between now and then:confused3

My friend told me to pack as i go and store it in a tote. I'll pick up stuff as i go and store it in them. We have tons of totes all over the place so my kids would never know the difference.

I surprised my kids with a spring break trip. It was great! I planned and packed right under their nose. They really didn't even notice what I was doing-it was funny. They knew we were going somewhere, just not to Disney. I gathered blatantly obvious Disney things (autograph books, pins, etc.) while they were occupied or sleeping.

We only had one "major" blunder-DH mentioned something about our flights getting changed...ACK:scared1: Luckily we thought on our feet quickly and covered it up. There were many times that I thought it would just be easier to give it up and tell them but seeing their faces when they found out was worth all the trouble!!

I'm planning a surprise trip for my kids (7,6,3) this June!!! I told them(the 7&6 yr old) we wouldn't be going until they're baby sister turns 2(she's 8months now) but what they don't know is I've had this trip planned since I was seven months pregnant!

This is what you have to do. Since they already know they're going to Orlando,
tell them you're gonna drop by Downtown Disney for some shopping. That way if anyone "slips up" and someone will (happened to me twice already) they won't instantly get it. So far this has worked for me and you can't get anything past my seven year old.

Of course I know I won't be able to hold my tongue once we get there so I plan on buying them gift cards and in the card holder it'll say "Surprise! You're going to Disney!! FOR REAL!!!" They'll read it and scream and I'll be the greatest mother of all times. At least that's how I've seen it in my head-lol.

No matter how your surprise ends it'll be the most wonderful thing ever! Just don't spill the beans. That's the hardest part!

It's funny you say to make it obvious... that's what we are now doing. my sister and I said we are going in 2 years.... so now we can make plans and they won't know the truth!

Well, DH almost slipped yesterday. He was talking about the LG cell phone app for Disney, and trying to talk in "code" but Magic Kingdom slipped out... Luckily DS's were vegged out in the back seats listening to music!

I wanna get that app too but I have the Droid eris and its not available for my phone yet so ill have to use it via mobile. We tried watching the vacation planning video yesterday but couldn't get it to go to Disney world. I was bummed. My kids know how obsessed I get with planning my oldest said yesterday its gonna be a LONG 2 years. :lmao:

We also have family in FL (Jacksonville) and the kids have no clue we are going to Disney. But we have to drop our dogs off in Jax so they will find out then when we get back on the road.

I have been careful not to talk about it or calling it WDW if they may hear. I also have a suitcase in my closet I have been putting things into as I buy them.

They don't suspect a thing. I cannot wait!! I am bursting with excitement for our trip!

30 days to go!!

Minor emergency today... my DBF, whom I'm trying to plan a surprise WDW trip for, asked to use my iPhone after school. Earlier during school, I was on the DIS Boards on my iPhone, reading my PTR, and forgot to close out of the window! So, when I saw my DBF open the internet on my phone, I had to quickly snatch it away from him before he saw anything suspicious!

I also had to delete the note I wrote on my phone that says DISNEY TRIP 2011... SURPRISE TRIP FOR GRADUATION. DO NOT TELL HIM!!!

We are planning to surprise our DD6 and DD8 for our September trip. My DD6 has no idea that we are planning a trip or even thinking about returning (was just there in March). My DD8 knew from the get go that we were going but does not know when or where we are staying. She has no idea what the plan is (going to our first MNSSHP). She has only put her .02 in about what days we are doing what parks. DH and I have had this trip planned since before our March trip and the only reason why my DD8 knows something about it is because right before the ME was about to pick us up, my DD8 was sobbing uncontrollably about leaving. So DH and I decided to let her know we will definitely be back before Christmas, which perked her spirits up, but she she cannot say a word about it to her sister. The funny thing is, she has not mentioned the Disney trip to me at all since we have been back, and the girls just found out that I am taking them (along with my girlfriend and her two kids) to Gatlinburg Tennessee for a week during July 4th (both dads are staying home :goodvibes), therefore all of her attention is focused on that trip and planning that one out. So I am really hoping she is forgetting our Disney trip so when the day comes for us to leave she will be very surprised :goodvibes. In reality I know she will start asking again once this Tennessee trip is over with, but I will just have to play it off somehow for a few months.

We are going back in May :cool1: Its a surprise.

My kids are 5 and 8....dh and I have probably slipped with some info, but honestly its blown right by them. We're such a disney loving family that talking about WDW and dreaming about future trips doesn't clue them in.

I'm keeping our travel stuff in my sewing/spare room. the kids haven't taken any note of it since that's mom's turf.

We have an early flight so they won't get the word until its time to get out of bed!!!

We are doing the same thing in Sept. We plan on packing as i go through the summer and i have talked to teachers at school they now that they with not be there the first week of school in Sept. My kids see me on the computer everyday but they now if mom does not get her Disney time in she is a BIG BEAR {GRRR }:rotfl2: My DH and I do all of our discussing in the evening when the kids are outside or after bed time. We have told the kids that because of the money problems everyone is having that we cant afford to go this years and they will have to settle with a camping trip to the local park , now my DS who is 12 don't care but my DD who is 8 is really up set she will be my DISNEY NUT WITH ME :yay: I cant wait 4 months and 18 days counting down.....:cool1:

I'm suprised how well I am doing keeping my mouth shut. I can't keep secrets at all. I have so much time left but I know summer will fly by. I'm so excited for those going soon... you guys will have to let us all know how the surprise turned out.

I had to use my sisters address so my kids wouldnt find out. I hope I'm not forgetting anything.

My sister and I want to get matching shirts for all of us. Anyone have any good suggestions? I seen someone post a picture of Orange shirts with mickeys on them.... real cute for Halloween time. We will be there Oct. 7 to 11

I'm surprising my little sister & son, Jake with our trip at the end of this summer.. I just don't know how exactly I'm going to do it! Any ideas on how to spill the beans would be appreciated! :)

One of my brothers, John & my Dad will be joining us and they both know we're going, but they think we're staying at Pop... SURPRISE! We're staying at the Poly! I really wish I could come up with a cool way to surprise EVERYONE with this one..

Good luck everyone!! :thumbsup2

I'm beginning to plan out surprise trip for May 2011. We had a trip scheduled for last August that was moved (house fire) to this October and eventually cancelled. We used all our insurance $$, 401K and WDW $$ for the new house, furniture etc. In return, we were going to replace the WDW $$ with our First Time Homebuyers Credit and since we hit the 16 week mark in April, and were told to expect another 16 weeks....we just cancelled. So now, we're going in May 2011 instead.

But since I've been planning since last year the kids think nothing about my WDW rambles and ?'s. We told them we promise for next year, but since they don't really believe us, it makes keeping the secret easier. We plan on leaving 2 days after the kids get out of school, to add to the secret. We've always taken a June or August trip (before school), so it's great!!:cool1:

I'm so excited, we'll be there for DD's 8th birthday and hopefully we'll be at PSB celebrating!!:cloud9:

Haven't even thought about how to tell them. My DD's (12 & almost 8 at trip time) are pretty sharp. We may tell them we're going to the beach, just a different way. They'd probably buy that. Maybe give them a card at the FL line that's were taking a detour..to WDW!!!:scared1:

This is soo much fun. I just hope nothing derails this one.

We asked our college graduate what she wanted in Feb for her present...she said to take her 10yr sister to Disney before 'life & work' kicked in. We leave for Disney next Saturday, and my smart 10yr old doesn't have a clue. Here's what we did...
She's got summer camp coming up, so I told her we needed to try on clothes to make sure she has what she needed. Since she will miss the last 3 days of school, I reminded her how they really don't do anything, and this way, we might do something fun that week. However, since our flight out is on Saturday, she's really thinking of that following Monday, so by that time, we'll already Be in Disney! I don't think she's going to regret missing that day!
I've already gotten all my capes, batteries, travel papers and other things hidden, so she hasn't seen a thing. Her teacher even knows not to say a word.
We plan on packing her totally while she's in school, putting it in the car. The next morning, all she will know is to get dressed, we are going somewhere. When we get to the airport, we will then produce our 'magic' card, Disney ME luggage Tags, and treats for the flight. We are pumped!
Oh, and I did have a 'slip of the tongue' 3 times, but each one was covered by our conversation about wishing we were going to Disney! She actually thinks we're NOT going anywhere!!

So-o-o-o- Excited...and can't wait to see her face a week from tomorrow!!!

Celebrating dd college graduation~

Just Celebrating!!!!
