Weather report shows it will be a high of 57', with winds of 10-15mph on our first full day. Overnight low, last I checked, of 39'. This makes early mornings or evening views of Wishes rather painful!

Any tips while in MK or Epcot? Or for our "break" day when we'll lay low at Poly? Where can we get the kids hot cocoa? Any shows that will allow us to warm up (maybe something we'd otherwise skip).

In Epcot, my kids enjoy some of the indoor exhibits where we can hang out for a while in Future World. But this Tuesday, we'll be at MK, and I don't think there's any place to hang out like that!

I don't want to whine about the weather, :charac2:but this is not setting up to be the warm(ish) vacation I was hoping for!

Btw, 2 girls, 7 and 10, not into princesses

Layer up. Bring long-sleeved shirts, light jackets or crewnecks, etc. It's easier to remove layers than to try and find them later. Wear pants if need be or capris. If you get too warm or cold you can always return to your resort to change or bring an extra shirt or pair of pants with you. Fingerless gloves are nice for evenings or mornings.

At Magic Kingdom you can see the Country Bears, the Hall of Presidents, and the Carousel of Progress, to warm up a bit. You may want to book an ADR for dinner, when it is cold and you need an hour or two indoors. Epcot will be a bit tougher, as you still need to walk a ways outdoors to make it to the indoor movies and shows. If you have a coat that zips out into separate pieces, bring that along. You can always stuff part of it in a locker, and wear what you need. Hats and magic gloves are also good to keep in the locker until you need them.

get some therma care packs and wear them under your clothes, but a couple of the warming packs in your pockets (jsut be careful with the little ones, so thy don't eat them). You can find these in the muscle pain section of the pharmacy.

We arrive Wednesday. We're from NY, so the cooler weather really won't bother us. ;) Hubby and I went last February and it did get chilly at night....I just rolled my capris down and wore a light jacket. Have fun!

Layering is the key! We usually did jeans with a long sleeve shirt and a hoodie/sweatshirt, sometimes we would throw some ear warmers in our pockets depeding on the wind. By mid day, we could ditch the sweatshirts and push up our sleeves if need be. You can usually find hot chocolate inside all of the parks and at all the resorts.

Our first trip when DS was 4 was FREEZING - as in - winter coats, gloves, hats, etc. Layers are key as it gets hot once you get inside. But honestly we still had a BLAST.

The best thing we did was have a character meal (Crystal Palace) for lunch. It got us in out of the cold and we lingered longer than we ever have over lunch. It was just pure luck we had planned that.

There are actually a lot of rides indoors - aside from above mentioned, Haunted Mansion, Little Mermaid, Pirates of Carribean, Monsters Inc, Buzz Lightyear, etc are all inside.

In Epcot, Mexico Agent P game is completely indoors.

Have fun!

There is a Starbucks on Main street for hot chocolate. We had 1 cold trip in December. We layered. Long pants. We started out with hoodies, ditched them in a locker during the day, and got them back out at night. Those cheap stretchy knit gloves are small, cheap and easy to pack as well as knit hats. I
would try to do your more outdoorsy things during the day when it is warmest. Stick with a QS lunch so you can maximize the warm part of the day.

Schedule a sit down dinner to get you out of the cold.

MK. Hall of Presidents, Carousel of Progress, Fantasmic, Stitch's Escape, Laugh Factory, Small World.

Epcot: Innoventions, The Seas, Soarin', Living With the Land, Circle of Life, Ellen's Energy Adventure (that one is really long) There is a game area in Mission Space.

We have been a few times when it was crazy cold. One year in early January, it was 27 degrees when we got to AK that morning. They had heaters out blowing on tropical trees to keep them from freezing! We find layers work well. Big coats do not work well, even when very cold. We take good hats and lots of cheap gloves. We find we are always taking them off and they get dropped and lost. We try to avoid the fast moving outdoor rides when it is at the coldest. My chest hurt after riding EE that 27 degree morning. We try to avoid shaded pathways and to keep moving outside. We plan sit down meals to warm up. Most places will give you a hot cup of water, just like a free cold cup. Carry your own hot drink mix. Be sure that feet are protected and through it sounds like a given, avoid any ride you can get wet on. That could include pirates too. Many times water is cut back or off on cold days but we got wet on Aladdin one cold evening. We also try not to get to opening too early on super cold mornings. The hold areas can be VERY cold early in the winter mornings, Only once have we altered our plans for cold. It was an Epcot day and about 40 that morning but the wind was terrible....it just hurt to be outside so we left and returned a few hours later.
Pools are heated but it can be crazy cold getting out. Some years I "forget" our swim suits to avoid the issue all together. DTD has tons of indoor things to do: movie, bowling, lego store, shopping etc,

Layer, layer, layer. Remember Orlando has high humidity, so even if it doesn't seem *that* cold it can get to you.
