I usually wake up at 9AM everyday and noon on weekends. Even on vacations I can't wake up early. .. what tips do you have for waking up early. I go to bed around 11 or 12.

Also, I was figuring that we'd have to be at AK at park opening to ride safari and get a good time right? So to get to the bus and all I guess we'd have to wake up at 7AM :guilty: How will I do this?

Wow! You sound like me. Except for the going to bed at 11 or 12 thing. I usually stay up later. The only tip I could give you is to ask for a wake up call or bring a really annoying alarm clock. But why get up early? It's vacation, enjoy yourself at your own pace. Good luck.

Oh WOW! I'm up every weekday at 6:30 and weekend day at 7am - and I'm younger than you! ;)

If I ever get out of that routine and need to get back, I start about a week earlier by setting the alarm and making myself get up even if I don't have to. By the end of that week, I'm feeling better waking up early.

try to go to bed earlier. walking around the parks in the hot sun should make u tired enough to fall asleep early! also, get a wakeup call from mickey! :earsboy:

I'm also wondering.. right now I have doing Epcot EMH evening the night before an early morning MK - bad idea huh??? And bad idea to go to MK later that day without benefitting from the early morning huH???

Hmmmmmm ... maybe I shouldn't do the epcot until midnight the night before?

I am a night owl, but in Disney I am usually so exhausted that i can fall right to sleep. What if you try a tylenol PM? Would that help you fall asleep a little earlier? :)

Another vote for getting a wake-up call from Mickey! There is a button on your phone specially for wake-up calls. When the phone rings in the AM, just hit the speakerphone button, so everyone can hear Mickey say "Up and at 'em!". ::MickeyMo

I'm gonna have to try the wake up call thing. On vacations to WDW, I'm pretty good about getting up early (though normally I love to sleep in). I guess because by the time I'm in bed the night before, I'm just exhausted so I get a good night's sleep...which helps me in waking up refreshed the next morning. My husband though...he could sleep until noon if I let him. But I guess the good thing is that we don't rush out to the parks in the morning...we take our time getting ready and may walk around the resort for a bit...that way if we want to stay in the park all the way through close, we have enough energy for it.

I'm a serious night owl -- work 2nd shift and am usually up til about 3am most nights, so it's very hard for me to get to sleep to get up early, but when I have to, I take a Tylenol PM and I place an alarm clock on the opposite side of the room so I have to get out of bed to shut it off. It doesn't always work, but it usually does.

Much as I like to sleep in, even at Disney, for our upcoming trip, there are two days I really want to be up and out early so I'm bringing a small loud alarm clock with me and the Tylenol PM. Wake up calls are great, but the phone is too close to the bed and I've been known to go right back to sleep, Mickey or no Mickey telling me "Up and at em!" :teeth:

There is nothing like getting that wake up call from Mickey....

We're usually in by 10pm, up at 6am - even when I have the chance to sleep later my body is awake
At WDW I find as the wk goes by I get tired and can sleep sometimes till 8am
Im planning on either late nights or early mornings - we will not be doing an early morn after a late night - this Aug we're only planning on being at each park once during their regular openings - the other 10 days we'll be doing the parks at night/late afternoons.
I have it planned that most nights we'll be getting about 8-9hrs sleep/rest

When you are done for the night any your lights are off, open the blinds. The sun coming in will help you feel like its time to get moving.

I too am a night owl..especially in Disney.. I'm usually so exhausted though, once I lay down I'm out. We always start out early but as the vacation goes on our wake up time gets later and later. My tip to waking up early would be to set a couple of different alarms within a min or two of each other (We use the hotels alarm clock..my cell phone alarm..my DH cell phone alarm...)and schedule a wake up call. That way you are awaken every min or so..
Have a great trip!!

i have tried to sleep late at disney, but i cant. first, of all i am too excited and feel like i am missing out. then, my kids wont let me. the key to waking up early is to bring kids.

I would try to change your schedule at home the week before you go - Try going to bed a little earlier and waking up earlier just so you can adjust your self before you get there. Trust me if you stay up late and make yourself get up the next morning early , you will be ready to go to bed early the next night. However you are on vacation and if you find it impossible to get up early then let yourself sleep in and enjoy later evenings instead.

Try getting a couple of kids. That will help you get up before 9am.

My tip: DON'T!

Why get up early on vacation if you like to sleep in on regular days?

We always sleep in at Disney. The time difference is what kills us...if we wanted to make it to the parks at opening we'd have to be up at 6am and that's more like 4am by our regular time zone!! Yikes!!!

We just arrive whenever we want and use fast pass. Then we stay as late as we can in the parks, I like the parks at night best anyway!

Whatever you decide, have fun!

FYI - If you've never used Tylenol PM, try it before you start using it on vacation. I experience restless leg syndrome from it and have talked to others that do also. It is very hard to fall asleep w/ it, so just be sure to try it ahead of time to make sure it doesn't affect you. Wouldn't want you to go through that on vacation!

I agree! But, for some reason my kids who are usually up by 7:30, are too tired to get up early at WDW...Darn it! I love to sleep in but, I just can't sleep at WDW! I'm the one trying to wake everyone. I plan on getting a wake up call from Mickey (on speakerphone) to wake those guys!::MickeyMo
