Hi!

At some point on our trip we will need to use the monrail.

Any tips for those using an ECV on the monrail would be appreciated.

I am specifically looking for tips on boarding at the Contemporary and also going from the TTC.

They will bring out a ramp for you to use and you will board the accessible car. You basically turn your speed to turtle (it's always easier to back up this way), line up so you are centered on the ramp, and then back on. The vast majority of stops will have you entering and exiting from the same side (so you would back on and then drive off). Hopefully someone will remember which stop you should drive onto (so you can exit the other side without having to ever back up). I wasn't told not to back on and was a bit annoyed since they do ask where you are going so they are prepared to bring you the ramp. But I can't recall where this was, sorry! The ramp steepness is not a potential issue for an ECV as it might be for someone pushing a wc. For the Contemporary, there's an elevator opposite where the escalator is so it's fully accessible. The monorails are honestly easy as they require just backing up, not maneuvering like you have to do for a bus (which is totally doable but does require some steering to get into place). Have a great trip!

I think it is easier to drive on forward and exit backwards.

On the resort beam figure looking to the front of the train.

At the Contemporary you board and exit on the left side.

At TTC you board on the left side and exit on the right side.

At both Poly and GF you board and exit on the right side.

At Magic Kingdom you board on the right side and exit on the left side.

On the express beam, looking to the front of the train:

At TTC you board on the left side and exit on the right side.

At MK you board on the right side and exit on the left side.

On the express you always must go on one way and off the other.

I've always driven on and backed off. The CMs are always very helpful.

I will have to try that!!! The CM assisting me the first time I did it said it was easier to back on and drive off. The explanation was that it is easy to get into position to be lined up with the ramp when you are outside and have room to maneuver. But now that I am thinking about it, why would I have to maneuver onto the ramp when backing off the monorail -- they should just line the ramp up to where I am.

But either way, the monorails are not something to worry about.

So thanks, everyone! And Chesire Figment, thanks for the comprehensive list of where the doors are!
