Hello everyone

I am leaving for a "girlfriends" trip to VEgas on Tuesday and I haven't been there in years. We're staying at the Luxor for 4 nights and going to see Barry Manilow at the Hilton (that's the real reason we're going) and also to see Mama Mia! at Mandalay Bay. We intend on going to the spa at the Luxor also to get pampered a bit!

Looking for unique places to eat for $50 per person or less... Whether it be brunches, sit down restaurants etc. What other tips can you give me about getting around?

I have been there a few times before, but not in the last 4 years so I do know I'll need sneakers or comfortable shoes!

Thanks for any info on fun stuff to do and places to eat etc.!!

Thanks a bunch!
Jackie

The Buffet at the Bellagio. I attend a conference in LV every year, and we always sneak away to eat here! There's a huge line sometimes, but the awesome food and good value is the reason why!! I think it's under $30/pp for dinner, and there's sushi, buffalo, salmon, swordfish, mmm...

Good for you - going to see Barry! :goodvibes: Wish I was going, too, but I'm going to WDW next weekend. That'll have to do. ;)

If you have a car, go to Hash House a Go-Go - on Sahara, about 5 miles west of the Hilton. They serve "farmer's rations" for breakfast - awesome, awesome, awesome! Bring an appetite. ::yes::

If you're thinking of going to do the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton, let me know. I printed out an Entertainment Book coupon, like a bonehead, and it expires in a couple of weeks. I think it's for 25% off admission, or something. PM me if you want it, and I'll scan & email it to you.

Enjoy your trip - tell Barry I said hi! :wave2:

Bertolinis at the forum shops is very good. Aladdin buffet is very good. IMHO the food at the Bellagio buffet is a bit odd and sometimes cold when it should be warm.
I like the Victorian room at Barbary coast for a quick tasty YUM YUM coffee shop meal, they have a wide selection of food. Kahunaville is a fun place in Treasure Island. So is jimmy buffets margarittaville at flamingo.
The piano bar in times square at NYNY is great, get there a bit before 8 for a table, it is an absolute blast.

Treat yourself to a wonderful dinner or lunch at Emerils "Delmonico" in the Venetian hotel. The food is fantastic :cool1:

We enjoy Mon Ami Gabi in the Paris Hotel.

Buffets we love are Paris for breakfast and Bellagio for dinner.

Have fun.

BARRY?!?!? That's so awesome!!! :woohoo: You'll have to tell us all about it. We really liked the restaurant in the Venitian and I dont' remember its name... the Lux or something?? Their Ahi Tuna is incredible. Have a great trip and say hi to Barry for me!!!

I think this poster is referring to the Grande Lux in the Venetian. Another good choice. Owned by the Cheesecake Factory people - it's yummy with a huge menu.

Another vote for the Grand Lux Cafe at the Venetian. Very good food, and it is reasonably priced as well. Like the Cheesecake Factory, the portions are VERY large.

We also LOVED Le Provencal and the buffet at the Paris Hotel. The Eiffel Tower restaurant has the best ambience of any restaurant in Vegas, but it is a little pricey. Le Provencal was very nice, had great food, and averaged about $20 a person before liquor.

A couple of places I would NOT recommend are Kokomos at the Mirage, because the portions were so small you needed to stop at McDonalds on the way home, and it was very expensive, and also Olives at Bellagio. The food was not that great, and also expensive.

By the way, we saw Mamma Mia at Mandalay Bay and thought it was pretty good, and we are not even Abba fans. :)

Try to go up to the lounge at the Foundation Room (Mandalay Bay) or Mix. Food is pricey, but if you can get drinks in the lounge the views are to die for!

Paris has the BEST breakfast buffet!!!!

and I hate, abhor, loathe, despise buffets. really. I've worked in restaurants with buffets and have horror stories. A local restaurant decided to go buffet only on Mother's Day, when I was counting on ordering off the menu. The other 14 people in our group had the buffet, I sat there and drank iced tea.

With all that said, I love the breakfast buffet at Paris. $14 per person plus tax and tip. Includes juice and coffee too. Let's call it brunch because you eat so much that lunch is not an option. after filling up on made to order eggs, crepes, fresh fruit, pastries etc. go to the waffle station and top a fresh waffle with Nutella and whipped cream for dessert. You'll moan. it's that good!

DH and I had a wonderful meal at Mesa Grill in Caesar's. Unique flavor combinations, really fun to try. Might be harder to keep it to $50 a person, especially if you try the margaritas! My favorite drink there was a simple vodka sour, but instead of regular sour, they used a mixture of fresh lemon/lime juice. WOW!

Another favorite is Postrio Cafe in the shops at the Venetian. Go window shopping and end up here for lunch or dinner. $50 a person is doable here, especially if you share appetizers and desserts. Don't skip dessert here, but they are big enough to share.

Most of the big strip hotels have websites with menus/descriptions for the restaurants. this lets you see prices and options before you go. Have a great time!
