Tips for taking nice video of trip

Last year I videotaped about an hour and a half of our trip. I managed to capture a good bit of stuff. DD in the room, DD at character meals, Cinderellebration, Spectromagic, some of Small World, her on her favorite rides.....etc.

When we watched it the other night, she loved it. She loved seeing Small World again and the Cinderella show. I loved seeing HER, which I realized there was not enough of.

I also noticed you get 10 seconds of Small World, then it jumps to 10 seconds of the next thing, and so on. Oh and anotehr thing I noticed? I am only in the video ONCE. Once!!!! I spent most of the trip juggling the camcorder and the camera, while hubby went on the rides with her! I was pregnant, so it was ok.

I also recall taking the videocamera once to each park to capture the favorite stuff and then on the other days, just taking the camera so I didn't have to 'juggle'.

Any tips out there to get a more continuous, nice video?

my dh is the tape recorder-----he tends to record too much in my opinion----that is until we get home and get to watch the whole trip again and again......the newer cameras are so light now and so small-----would think it would be easy to record anytime you wanted to...........the kids take up alot of tape time--but he does get scenery and rides in as well, it all just makes me want to go back that much faster good-luck!!!!

Oh, I have the same problem. I don't want to miss out by taping everything; I just want to enjoy it. However, I know my dd would love to watch it. Hope someone can offer some tips.

As a former media person, tape is cheep! It is better to over record and then edit out later. The home computer industry has made this easy and affordable. I can now do the same quality work at home as I did with the profession equipment years ago.

I keep a master tape with everything that we can go back to when we want to see the whole thing and then I make "snap shot" DVD to show family and friends.

Also don't be scared to get your spouse or kids to tape after you get set up and rolling.

I stopped taking my Cam to the park I really noticed I was to buzy being a Director then a Guest.

I could recall what I saw from the cams view more then from my own.

My tips are never do anything thats not atleast 30 sec long (watch your times).

Limit your zoom when shooting.

And when making a DVD it's better to have too much then not enough tape on hand.

I think you have to balance taping and just enjoying yourself. Also don't be afraid to tape too much if you know how to edit. A really cheap editing software is windows movie maker. It doesn't do anything fancy but it allows you to cut out tape and add pictures and music.
