Tips for sealing drumsticks?

DS was given some autographed drumsticks over the weekend. I would like to put some sealent on them to seal the signature on (I am worried that as he handles them it will rub off). Any suggestions?

I really don't know much about this but my guess is that any clear wood sealer would do the trick (if the sticks are wooden).
