DH and I are going to DLR (staying at DLH) for 5 days in September. We are spending the majority of our time at DL/DCA, but are planning on going to Sea World in San Diego for a day. We will not have a car and were planning on taking one of the bus trips down there from Disneyland.

Does anyone have any tips for us on what to make sure we see/what to skip/where (and what) to eat/etc. the day we're at Sea World? (Neither of us has been to Sea World before, San Diego's or otherwise)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!:bounce:

You are going to LOVE Seaworld. There really isn't anything that you should leave out. If you're short on time, you could probably skip the Dolphin show. It's okay, but the sea otter show and Shamu show are better. The ShipWreck restaurant has great food as does the BBQ place. (forgot the name)

When you are buying your tickets, ask about a "AAA discount". When we were there, we got the $42 ticket for $32. Also, they may be giving you a years pass for the price of a one-day admission. It's called a Fun Pass. I'm not sure if they are doing it right now, but you could always ask! Go early and try to go in the opposite direction of everyone else. SeaWorld is big circle and if you go to the left, you'll be in front of everyone.
Also, it's mostly outdoors, so wear a hat and have some sunscreen ready!

Have a ball!!

We were at Sea World just a few days ago and it was VERY crowded. I second the suggestion to wear plenty of sunscreen because I got a bit sunburned before I realized what hit me. All of that water!

We had a very good time. We saw all of the shows except the Dolphin show and they were all good. I suggest getting there very early, examining the schedule and planning your day around the shows. Many of the venues have different nighttime shows. Do try to get to the Sea Lion daytime show early. The preshow entertainment was hilarious! The food is quite expensive and the fireworks are some of the best I've ever seen. Try to see the Shark exhibit early because it turned into the worst bottleneck and line we experienced all day.

Have fun!

I agree with the sunscreen. With that beautiful San Diego weather you don't realize how much sun you are getting. I stiill have the burn from two weeks ago to prove it.

When we were at the park the AAA deal was buy 3 tix, and get a $20 gift check that could be used in the park for food, merchandise, etc. I believe the Sea World web-site lists their, "hot deals."

If you are planning to ride, "Shipwreck Rapids," try to do so in the morning. It opens at 10am, and the kids in our group rode it 4 times in a row with no wait. Plus, after that many times it took them all day to dry off. The line for this attraction was pretty long later in the day.

Everyone in our party enjoyed Cir De Le Mar and the dolphin show. Which was especially exciting for me as my DD 8, loves dolphins and her eyes just lit up everytime one would jump out of the water. As with all the shows, sitting there, cover up your legs, as they will get burnt too!!

We've had good luck with all the food we have had there. The only downside our the wait times in the lines for food. It just seems to take forever. They offer a refillable sports bottle, mug, and souveiner cup at the vending carts. The cheapest is the sport bottle at around $4.75, you can get refills for .99. We are not big soda drinkers, but this was a hit. Also they do the same thing with popcorn and cotton candy buckets. Buy the bucket for $3.50, and get refills for $1.50.

Have a great time!! :earsgirl:

We did the "Dine with Shamu" thing a few days ago. Before we left we made reservations - we were flexible with the days and tols them our only consideration was a "good seat". They gave us the "slide out" area.

We were not disappointed. We had our nice buffet meal and were treated to Shamu and friends sliding out about 6 feet away from us! The pictures were great! They are nice enough to warn you that you "might " get wet. We were soaked! We will do it again, but might wimp out and don our ponchos at the appropriate time!

You absolutely must see Cirque de la Mer. It is a summer show, so I hope it is still running when you are there. Sit to the sides & go 1/2 hr early. It is incredible. Have a wonderful time!
