Tips for parties of 6 or more?

Hopefully this is the right place for this!!

We are planning our trip and my Inlaws and my parents are planning on going with us!!!

We are going to be eating a few meals together, so that will be 7 of us.

My questions are this- is the tip added to each parties individual bill? So each couple will pay their own 18%?

Also, will it matter if my inlaws decide to not do the dining plan?

I hope that makes sense!!
