Tips for our carry-on alcohol

First time DCL cruiser! We will be 4 adults and 2 kids (ages 3 and 6). My MIL and myself will be carrying on two bottles of wine each and my FIL and my husband will be carrying on a 6-pack of beer each. I've done a little research. Does anyone have any tips for making this a smooth process? Obviously, I will be having to help my little ones on board as well. I have also read that we can't put everything in one bag- even if there are 4 adults- all the alcohol being in one bag would be against the rules. So how do you usually make this work? My thought was wrapping the wine bottles up in a bookbag. 6 packs of beer would be a little more bulky and fragile, I would think. Maybe two rolling suitcases? Can we leave suitcases outside of our stateroom until we are allowed to go in at 1?

We don't carry on alcohol so can't help with that. You're not allowed into the halls outside of your cabin until you're allowed into the cabin itself, so you can't leave your luggage in the hall.
Hope you have a great first cruise.

Anything carried on-board will be with you until the rooms opened up (around 1:30 pm). We have since the restrictions carried all (with us wine) in the same nap-sack (think school size) with our last cruise adding a case of ginger ale. We have had 4 bottles previously and this past time with a number of 1/2 litre boxes actually had 4 small, one larger and the case of pop and nobody questioned, stopped or even wanted to look in the nap-sack. There are normally two drinking age but this past time with the oldest we there were three of us.

I may opt for the cartons of wine (still within specified amount) so it's not as fragile. Thanks for the input. Did your case of ginger ale have to be carried on too? Just trying to figure out how we'll do beer still. I'm sure we'll figure it out.

We always combine all of our beverages into 1 or 2 rolling backpacks. It’s never been a problem combining them. We have sailed just recently in feb.

The one other time I've cruised I carried my wine on in a backpack. I actually flew with mine too that time. I wrap my wine in a trash bag and use the tie to tie it up, then wrap in bubble wrap, then another bag. It works and provides some extra cushioning. They also sell protective containers for them as well for travel. Beer I haven't carried on, but we might bring some on on our next trip if my husband or dad want some.

Yes we carried the case of ginger ale carried on. Any liquid beverages (even cases of water some bring) are supposed to be in your carry-on luggage. The last several times we've done boxes as they take up less room. Once we actually did 4 cartons in the nap-sack that were a litre each (we technically bringing 2 bottles/boxes each but more than the 2-750 ml they allow) which had me nervous being a litre more than technically allowed between us but as always, they did not bother to even ask to look inside.

I don't know if you each have to physically carry your own on, but if you do, just carry it through the checkpoint, then pass it off to someone else in your party so you can focus on the kids.

The reason for having all liquids in your carry-on is that the luggage can be handled rather roughly and put in large piles. If a bottle broke in your luggage it could not only affect your clothing but also that of luggage stacked with yours.

We’re cruising next week and bringing on alcohol for the first time. We’re using “wine diapers” to protect the bottles in our suitcases and carryons - highly recommended on travel sites, Amazon, etc. As far as protecting bottles go, maybe you’ll want to try them too.

We use these bags for our wine. They are reusable and fold quite smaller when not filled with air. We then use them to bring home the rum that we buy from one of the ports. We have not had a bottle break yet and we usually have them in our luggage that we check with the airlines.

Once you get past the bag check you can reorganize your beloingings and combine things. We have just used a rolling carryon suitcase for our beer.

We brought four bottles of wine on board in February and it was all in one bag. No issues on that. You do have to carry it with you onto the boat though, so it could be heavy in one bag. We had a rolling duffel bag that worked well. We used those padded wine containers that another poster showed, and they worked very well. They are also reusable should you buy anything in duty free on your way off the boat.

Last year we sailed out of NYC and brought wine with us. We drove to port from home. We just carried it on in a wine tote. We did not pack it.

We will do the same this fall. Since, we are not flying it makes it easier to just carry it on.

But I love that wine diaper idea and the blow up packing. They look interesting.

we use a roll aboard sized suitcase. I carry on a case of water and 18 beer bottles for 3 adults. At PC, it's never been a problem having it all packed together as long as all 3 adults are right there. The suitcase is heavy, and it takes 2 of us to lift it on and off the scanner belt. After screening, I just roll it with me. We go straight to lunch either in Cabanas or the MDR and I keep the suitcase with me at the table. hubby and the kids might go explore, or hit the aqua duck or something, but I just stay at the table and organize our papers, set up the onboard texting, check the navigator, etc until the room is ready.

Also, don't forget that you can pick up more wine in port to carry back on (except at CC)

Where have you read this?
I have heard that some security screeners have had problems with this before, but I don't think it is widespread. Just like TSA, I think you have to roll with the punches a bit with the screenings.

We take 2 six packs of beer and put it in a rolling carry-on bag as well. It hasn't been a problem as long as both adults are together with the bag.

I wish Disney would just get with the program and sell drink packages for adults. I asked and was told "Oh no, Disney is for families we could not do that." Disney should read this thread and understand that adults in some families enjoy having a drink while they are on vacation and they don't want to have to take out a second mortgage to pay their bar tab at the end of their cruise. Come on Disney don't we pay enough to cruise on your ship and visit your park??? Look at my signature there is a reason why there are so many years between my last cruises with you, I was still going on cruises just not with you.

Or maybe the single wine box option?

For the guys who are bringing six packs of beer, I'm thinking that it might be easier if that was bubble wrapped as much as possible. Each person responsible for their own.

Has anyone brought on the little 4 packs of wine bottles like the bare foot brand? I am not one to drink an entire bottle in one night usually because I get busy with the kids and remember not being able to fit it in the fridge after it was opened. I thought the little bottles for me would be easier although I do tend to drink more when I have those for some odd reason.
