Tips for long stay in a value room

I have an upcoming two week trip at POP with dh, dd6 and dd8. We take many trips a year so were ecstatic to get Free dinning! I have stayed off-site in the past, but found I rather stay onsite and share a room with the little ones. :) Any tips from those who have had longer stays? Anything I can bring (ex. collapsible clothing hamper..)? We will be flying, but will have extra room in our bags. Merci :)
We always take two large string wash bags, one for whites and one for colours and dark clothes, then when you want to do a wash you can either chuck the whole bag in the washing machine or tip it out, tumble dry the lot and you have a clean bag to take your clean clothes back to the room in!

Regarding the power surge strip: it might possibly be a good idea even if there are many outlets in the room. If everything is plugged into one power strip, there is only one place to check. If things are plugged in all over the place, you might leave something behind accidentally.
Plus, some of my devices wouldn’t charge via the provided USB ports. I don’t know if I needed more power or what the issue was, but if you have a lot of people in the room a power strip is a good idea.

We had a party of three adults at Pop the day after Hurricane Irma for ten days. My sister and BIL weren’t allowed to go back home, so they had a ton of stuff they had brought with them when they evacuated. The under bed storage came in very handy. We were able to organize everything so nothing was out in the way.

Check out the Disney World Tips board. Excellent tips on packing, room de-cluttering, making rooms more comfortable, etc. A few of my favorites from that forum: packing cubes or extra large Ziploc for packing and storage, small bin for park paraphernalia, change, bands, etc, hand soap for bathroom sink.

This is so smart! I'm stealing this idea. So simple and yet I never thought to do this before...I travel pretty much the entire summer with my daughter who plays travel softball. I'm constantly doing laundry in hotels and this will make life so much easier. Thanks for this tip.

You're very welcome! I'm all about making life easier 😂

We did a 2 week stay at AoA mermaid rooms just before Christmas a couple of years ago. 2 adults and 4 year old. It was a very last min trip and it was the only room available so we couldnt get a split stay like we usually do (1 week in 2 resorts). So here are my tips
1. Do Not refuse mouse keeping for the giftcard. The room gets pretty dirty and stuffy quickly. You need the bathroom cleaned and room vacuumed.
2. When you are in the room try and keep the door open when possible to let in fresh air. We would just put the recycling bin to jam the door open for a while if we were watching TV.
3. Pack light and take advantage of the laundry facilities. The dryers are great and we only pack half as much as we used to which makes the room much tidier.

You will thank me later! This is a tip for all families in any hotel stay!
I am assuming these are similar products... We like to use poo-pourri:flower1:
It is a heaven sent item in the room with multiple peeps using the powder room!
We have stayed at Pop Century every year for almost 3 weeks a trip the three of us - my Mum(72) myself and my now adult DD(21!) it can be done and I think rather successfully whether u spend a lot of time in the resort or just use it to shower and rest your head!

And there's a scent too lol?! Yea I have def never seen these. I'll keep an eye out next time we are over.

Regarding the dryer sheets: they probably sell then in the vending machine in hotel laundry room if you want to check them out. Scent varies.

One of the best ideas I learned from the tips board was to take dishwashing sponges and put liquid detergent on them. Let them dry completely and then put in ziploc bag. That way you have readily available dish soap to wash out the mugs, etc. I also take paper towels. Not a whole roll, but several.

I would say have a talk with everyone beforehand about expectations for the trip. Everyone is expected to pick up after themselves, not leave the room looking like a tornado went through, etc. (my husband needed this talk more than the kids!) Limit souvenir buying to the end of the trip.

The key to a happy stay is going to be organization. The more time you spend corralling the clutter each day, the more comfortable everyone will be. I would start by limiting the amount of “stuff” the kids bring along. They will likely accumulate more “stuff” during the visit.

Bring a mesh drawstring bag for shopping and keep it in your park bag. It will eliminate the cost of buying shopping bags at the parks plus that will be one less thing cluttering up the room. Better yet, don’t buy any “stuff” until your last day.

Make a plan as to where everything will be stashed when you get into your room. Snacks on the bureau. Beverages in the fridge. No half-consumed bottles of water by the bedside. All refillable mugs washed and by the sink after use.

Buy a couple of wire shelfs with collapsing legs, like the kind you would use in your kitchen cabinet or countertop. It will fit in your luggage. Use one on the counter in the bathroom area to act like a drying rack for the mugs. Or just to expand your vertical space for toiletries. Use the other for the counter below the TV or in the closet to store shoes.

An over-the-door shoe organizer for shower stuff, sunscreen, flip flops.

Small collapsible fabric bin (like Closetmaid minis) to keeps MBs, wallets and keys in one place. Makes it easier to get out the door to in the morning when you don’t have to hunt for these things. Use another one to toss all of your small electronics in.

A folder to keep all papers together (resort maps, personal itinerary, DME paperwork, receipts, etc.)

Clothespins to hold curtains shut (they always seem to let a small amount of stray light in) and for hanging up wet items.

Unpack completely and hang clothes or stow in the drawers. No living out of a suitcase! Put the suitcases one inside the other like Russian nesting dolls and stow them under the bed until you’re packing up to leave.

Check out tips for organizing a cruise cabin-many similar things-for instance instead of magnetic hooks get the removable ones that don't leave marks to hang lanyards or magic band on, or keep a collapsable bowl by door so change, bands etc can go there.
PACKING CUBES-oh how I love them! so easy to unpack and organize in drawers. Much better than wrinkly ziplocs. If you can keep one of the suitcases open under the bed just toss dirties in there-easy to slide in/out once or twice a day-saves floor space instead of hamper
Clothes pins are great for hanging up wet swimsuits or ponchos on the line in the bathroom.
So many uses for these!

Poo-puorri lifesaver in small spaces!
I also have a hanging travel bag that has our toothbrushes, my makeup etc.

Definitely do NOT turn down mousekeeping! you will want help keeping the place tidy. Also with the way the rooms are now it is nice to have option to slide second bed up so you have table and chairs.
Have a great time!
