Hello! We are going to Disney for out 5th Anniversary in September and I will be 18 weeks pregnant. I was wondering if anyone has some good tips for going while pregnant. This is our first baby and we are very excited!!

Just don't overdo it, stay hydrated and rest often. Otherwise you'll be ok. I went at 7 months pregnant and after a couple of days started renting a wheel chair. My feet and ankles were horribly swollen and I started wearing hideous crocs everywhere. Totally worth it though!

Phew. I thought this thread was going to ask how to get pregnant for going to Disney.

We are going for our 5th in September too. Congratulations.

It will be hot and humid. Keep the frog toggs handy.

Take frequent breaks. Don't just sit down, actually try to put your feet up. (We went in May, when I was about 28 weeks.) I slept with my feet elevated, and also took frequent breaks in the parks.

Also drink lots of water (it's free at QS locations).

I was very early in my pregnancy with our youngest DD during our 2013 trip (about 7 weeks along) which means I just found out literally a couple weeks before our trip  I was fortunate not to have bad morning sickness at that point but was definitely tired a lot and had my moments of nausea. You definitely want to pace yourself and take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and find out where the nearest bathrooms are . DH was a trooper with making sure I had what I needed to be comfortable and accompanying the kids on the rides I had to sit out on. Still had a magical trip and had no guilt about enjoying an extra Mickey bar when I wanted one :thumbsup2

I was about that far along when we went to WDW last Oct. I just walked slower than usual and took things at a slower pace. It was actually nice to try some slow attractions we usually skip. Drink lots of water and skip "heavy" foods in the heat. You may need more naps or hrs of sleep at night. I was okay with the usual but slept most of the 13 hr drive home after we left after 4 days!

Thanks everyone for the advise! We have changed our plans a little to be more relaxed.

Be advised that YOU AND your husband can go into any queues where you cannot ride the actual attraction. So, say your husband wants to do Twilight Zone. Go through the entire queue and once you are at the seater person, just say, "one to ride, one to exit" and you will be escorted out. This works at ANY Disney attraction. Just each have a cell phone to meet up after and you can have a great time for a few minutes (longest wait is maybe ten minutes) on your own. I can tell you Disney has a ton of kids stuff to look at in the shops while you wait.

Also, ahem, you might want to get a park map at each park and note where the, ahem, bathrooms are. Not for morning sickness either. *whistles*

We went with our son when he was three and my wife was five months pregnant. The most beneficial thing was staying close to the parks we were going to. It helped both my wife and son. We stayed at the Contemporary. When we were leaving the park for a break or at the end of the night, it was simple to just walk to our room and not have to worry about waiting an getting on a crowded bus.

Congratulations.

In Sept...LOTS of breaks and TONS of water, a squeeze breeze is great too. Also, not to ride anything that you would not take an infant on. (I live close by and thats what my dr told me both pregnancies, it was SOOOOO much easier than memorizing rides you can and cant go on). Congratulations!!!

There's lots of good advice.

Take a luxurious afternoon nap every day.

Best wishes, and take care of yourself.

Thanks everyone! We have never gone back to the hotel for breaks but I guess there is first time for everything! I was hoping I could push through and wouldn't need a nap but it sounds like I will probably need some rest time.

I was about 16 weeks pregnant when I went to Disney in August. The biggest thing is to stay out of the sun which I think is very possible in Disney. Even if you are doing counter service meals make sure to pick ones where you can sit down. Pick long air conditioned shows for the heat of the day, drink lots of water (sometimes I would just would just fill up my water bottle at the fountains and add powdered drink mixes to disguise the taste of the water), and don't over do it. Most of the rides are mild enough that you can ride while pregnant. I would avoid the coasters and maybe some of the spinning rides and Mission Space but most are fine and of course water slides are out. Don't go in the hot tubs but pools are awesome while pregnant.

I was at the height of morning sickness for MNSSHP last year. I couldn't walk into Cosmoc Rays Withou t covering my nose. And I couldn't walk past popcorn without drooling I kept candies on my person at all times. I carried a small crossbody just big enough for a water bottle and candy. We made three trips through Pinocchios to get those amazing caramel apple werthers. Probably would have done that anyway though. My step bro in law gave me all of his too. They thought it was hilarious "oh I guess we better swing by Pinocchios while we are here..."

Have fun! 18 weeks you should be great. We went last fall and I was 7.5 months along. We did great and I went all day everyday except our party day. I used that morning to sleep in. I did most all the rides with the exception of the roller coaster type rides.

Like everyone said...Stay Hydrated! Drink lots and lots of water. If you don't think you need water, drink some more. Indulge in all those mickey ice cream treats. Ask for help if you need it. We hit a few days that were unseasonably warm with heat indices over 100F. The heat got the better of me. DH flagged down a CM and they were great about getting me AC and water. I found it a good idea to bring my own pillow to the resort too. Very much needed at 7.5 months I don't know if you would need it at 18 weeks.

Pick up a little memento for baby too. We brought a collection of Disney Princess stories and then had each princess sign their story and had other characters sign the cover. Our DD now has a really cool book in her room with little notes personalized for her for from the princesses.

I totally misread the subject of this thread as "Tips for Getting Pregnant at Disney." Anyhoo, I agree with the other posters. Just take it easy. Stay hydrated. Don't try to do too much.

I'll be in my first trimester during our upcoming trip. Been to Disney many times in the past, but first time to be pregnant. Planning on mornings in a park, then leaving for a nap, then dinner and maybe back again in the evening. No I can't ride all my favorites, but those rides will still be there for our future Disney trips as a family.:flower1:

I went in my first trimester, and here are my suggestions:

That adorable bag for carrying milk/formula for your bundle: break it in by keeping some electrolyte water for yourself!
Don't try to park hop.
Find those long slow attractions that people often avoid: they are perfect for a rest if you don't want to go back to you room:
MK-Country Bears/Carousel of Progress/Pirates (NOT BORING-just long and cool)/Hall of Presidents/Small World
EPCOT-Ellen's Energy.../Spaceship Earth/America Pavilion/France Film/Canada Film
Animal Kingdon-Festival of the Lion King and Nemo Show
DHS-Great Movie Ride/Muppets/Little Mermaid
Carry lightly salted Almonds, if you are not allergic.
Each park has a Baby Care Center...find out where they are when entering a park. Should you need it, they will provide a comfortable place to rest, and they are near first aid.
* If a cast member tells you that a ride is merely a simulator, so you need not worry about riding, don't believe it! (I rode Star Tours with that advice, and was nervous for the next 6 1/2 months!)

Have a wonderful time, and don't be surprised when your child is born a Disney addict! (My DD16 is!):tinker:
