Been to Disney World many times, and up until they created the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, we've never wanted to visit anywhere else. My daughter and I are big fans of HP and been talking about visiting for years.

Well we now have the opportunity, but unfortunately it will be during the summer when school is out. I want to surprise my family with a 1 day trip to Universal just to visit WWOHP.

I need everyone's help to maximize our time and get to do as much as possible while were there.

Tips Im looking for:

1. Things to do with my 12yo Daughter
2. Things to do with my 5yo Daughter
3. Should I buy 2 park pass

I am curious, too. We have done WDW twice and DD & I will be at Universal for ONE day, mostly to see the Harry Potter stuff. I like most thrill rides, she doesn't, but we will be with 13 other girls & a few other moms so it should work.
We did get 2 park tickets (like a WDW hopper?)
I was reading the Unofficial WDW guide

Would love to hear tips for a 1 day adventure trying to "hit the high points"!

You will want to do the 2 park pass so that you can visit both sets of the Harry Potter attractions - Hogsmeade is in Island of Adventrure and Diagon Alley is in Universal. The two connect via the Hogwarts Express.

On our first trip, e did do almost everything in both parks in a day, but it was a REALLY LONG day. It was a day with extended hours and we were there from rope drop to park close. We were all tuckered out by the end of the day. To be a little more relaxed, I would have everyone look at the maps of the parks and find the things they want to see. Hit the headliner attractions then spend a little more time in each of the themed areas that interest someone in your party - it is fun to look around Springfield or Seuss Landing for the theming.

Will you have another adult with you? If so I would take 5 yo to Seussland while older waits for Forbidden Journey. That is a long line and a little spooky (so says my 4 yo).

Just wanted to add, my kids never had any interest in any of the wilder rides until they stuck a Harry Potter theme on them. :) First and only upside-down coaster was Duelling Dragons. So you may find a timid rider is highly motivated by the theming. i haven't been to Diagon Alley yet, but I bet the little and big girls would enjoy the interactive wands...I'm looking forward to it!!

Have a great time.
