Tips for eating breakfast in room

For breakfast I usually bring poptarts, granola bars, cereal in a large ziplock, and we buy milk in the resort gift shop.

For lunches we bring lunchmeat, peperoni sticks, string cheese, tuna packages and crackers, and a couple of microwave mac and cheese cups. It is so relaxing eating by the pool in the afternoon some days.

Snacks are uncrushable items like pringles, bags of microwave popcorn, twizzlers, individual canned fruit, fruit snacks.

im laughing my BUNS off, cause I sure would HATE if someone was BOILING EGGS in the room next to us............yeck..............cause they do have micro. and toasters at all the food courts. To DEB & BILL , thanks, cause i am one also that believes in SAFETY first. Besides i dont like to COOK at home so not at DISNEY.........ha ha ah ...........

We do all the basic stuff...cereal, poptarts, etc.

Our last trip I heard from the boards that you could take your own stuff...poptarts, bread, bagels, etc. and use the toaster at the hotel food court. I was very hesitant to do it, though. However, after going to POR and seeing the food court layout.....it would def be ok.

I don't remember there being a microwave, though. Is there?

I like solo cups for cereal it doesn't spill out easy. oatmeal and grits (I am from the south) I use white foam cups for those two. the foam cups hold heat really well be careful with little ones. water out of the coffee maker is just the right temp.
b-fast food from sam's club danish and such.
I like trail mix for snacks inside the park protein (nuts) and filling.

Great ideas. I like the idea of buying a cheap toaster. Has anyone bought the bacon thats already cooked? Is it good? :Pinkbounc

Using the coffee maker for hot water is the way to go.
You can make instant oatmeal, instant grits, ramon noodles my son loves those things, hot chocolate especially if you are going during the winter.
We also take fruit snacks
Debbie cakes
peanut butter and crackers we make our own and wrap them up.
we buy muffins prepackaged so they will last the whole trip
we also buy the individual bags of chips for like a quarter a piece.
take your own water we take a few then we just reuse the bottles. You can also take kool-aid packets to make your own kool-aid.

They say you are not allowed to take food in the parks but we have never had any problems.

I only buy precooked bacon anymore. It is so easy and very good. I get mine from Sam's warehouse. it is so much cheaper than buying it uncooked. I want to know how big the refrigerator is? Will a half gallon of milk fit in it or do we have to use the small cartons? My family is going at Christmas and plan on eating breakfast in the room.

I also use 2 cups of cheese, but that it just a personal thing - I believe you can never have too much cheese or too much chocolate!
A girl after my own heart! :teeth:

Hi. I had two half gallons on milk in the door, but there was room for a third one. Just be careful not to pack too much stuff in there, so the air can make it to the milk. Have fun.

Thanks for all of the great ideas! We were planning on packing our food for breakfast already, now it just seems like good plain sense. We would rather spend the money on other things and with 5 of us we'd get to the parks about 11 if we stopped for breakfast. We are packing instant oatmeal, granola bars, and pop tarts as well as those wonderful tasters choice coffee packets. There are iced tea packets now that are perfect for a bottle of water! our family loves them, they were never big crystal light drinkers. i notice alot of people bringing paper towels tho... should i bring a roll? sounds silly the mother of 3 asking that question, but i am trying to save valuable packing space.. :sunny:

fsdgghhi there :cool1:
my son and i are planing another trip to wdw next year.As we are from sydney australia, carting food can be a problem, and since we dont have a car we cant go shopping, but someone mentioned ordering food online and having it sent to your hotel.
Can I order it from a USA company when i am here in Australia or do you have to be in the USA to order. Its just that my 14 yr old will eat heaps and will cost me a fortune if we buy every meal for 8 days in WDW.
any help would be greatly appreciated.. ::MickeyMo
long live WDW!!! :earsboy:

Welcome to the DIS Aussie disney fan! wegoshop seems to be pretty poplular but I have never used them. I shouldn't think you would have a problem ordering from them. You might check the UK board and see what they do when they visit.

I PM'd you the recipe for bacon-cheese muffins. Hope you like them!

You may have started a trend! A non-sweet muffin would be a great way to start my day, any day!

Hi!

I just had a thought this morning on another bfast item. My girls love the frozen, microwave-able pancakes. The fridge at POR won't be big enough to keep the food frozen all week....but would it be ok to use if it just stays cold? Do these things spoil if defrosted but kept cold for a couple of days?

I know that Ms. Shubert's rolls are ok to use after being defrosted in the fridge.

Thanks!

Believe it or not, while vacationing, we start our day with a few Bagel Bites! A few seconds in the microwave, and we've got our non-sweet, savory breakfast. With fruit and milk, this is the typical Disney breakfast for us. :flower:

I try to lay off the sugar during breakfast because I know my weakness for all things Disney and all things sugar and the danger when the two meet as I walk around the parks. :earseek: :mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar

There is a fairly new/nice Amana microwave at the Port Orleans/Riverside food court. It's on the right(as you face out from the cashiers) of the drink island. Not as sure about the toaster...but I *think* that it's a large rolling-type toaster, near the pizza window, between that area & the drink island.

agnes!

There should be a telephone number to call on the package or an e-mail address that you could contact the company directly to find the answer to your question.

what we like to do, if you have a mini-fridge is bring fruit cups, cereal, milk , and granola bars. for a special treat when you come back from the parks is bring some healthy popsicles what I reccomend is the dole all natral frozen fruit bars at target for about $4.00

:) I hope these tips help :)
