My DH and I are going to Disney this August with a TON of his family. We'll be taking our then 5 month old. Any tips??!!! TIA!

We're going at the end of the month, with our 3yo dd and 4.5mo ds. we have a maclaren double umbrella stroller, but i will probably have the baby in either my mei tai carrier or ergo most of the time. we also plan to let him take his morning nap (his longest nap) before we leave for the park, so he is well rested when we arrive. the major thing, imo, is to try to take it easy and not push the baby past his limit. good luck!

We took DS when he was 4 mos old (whole family trip that had been planned way before I became pregnant!). We just took it slow, brought our own carriage (so that he could sleep flat) and he napped a lot! Since it was warm, he rarely wore more than a onesie & socks and he was well shaded by the stroller hood plus a receiving blanket hanging over the edge. We were both breastfeeding and supplementing with formula and I did use the baby care centers to nurse. Just felt more comfortable and relaxing. He did get to ride POC & HM .. along with DH & I! It was actually a much easier trip than when we took him at 2.5 yrs! That trip he wouldn't really nap - too afraid he'd miss something! The baby trip was a cinch! Have fun!

a group of us were there with 5 kids under age of 3 - one was a 5 month old. She was great since she was in the stroller and there was always someone there to push her around and not have to wake her up. Not a problem at all.

We took a fourteen-week-old infant and his nine-year-old sister to WDW last December. Both were terrific.

We has three adults to the two children, so someone was available to stay with the baby at all times. Quite honestly, the little guy stayed on his own schedule throught the visit--and slept through the night, believe it or not! He was doing that at home, but we weren't sure if he would at WDW. :)

He loved the sights and sounds of WDW. We stayed at Pop Century, and he adored Everything Pop--both the store and the food court. The colours, the animation, the sounds. He flirted with everyone! *LOL*

When my Dd's were babies, we went to the MK all the time. They LOVED it! There used to be a wonderful baby area back on the corner near the Crystal Place. Anyone know if it's still there? They had many changing tables, rocking chairs, it was nice and cool, and they had many baby supplies readily available. It was a great place to cool off, give her a bottle and take a little break.

If it is still there, use it! :thumbsup2

We took our then 4 month old last fall. She was almost easier than the 3 year old. :rotfl2:

We wore her a lot (I like my sling, dad preferred the bjorn as he thinks slings are too feminine). We also had a stroller along for her. She seemed to enjoy the sights & the action of being at WDW. We only did one late evening (had to see Spectro & Wishes), otherwise we got up early (same as we do at home) and were back in our room by early evening.

* give plenty of fluids (formula or breastmilk for a 4 mo old)
* sun protection: hat, shade for stroller, sunscreen, etc.
* duck in to AC attractions, shops, restaurants to keep cool
* extra potty stops--keep that bum dry, especially in the Aug heat
* baby centers are your friend: quiet, AC, changing tables, breast feeding areas (some private, some semi-private), supplies like diapers, pacifiers, etc for sale.
* don't think just because he or she is a baby that they won't notice or enjoy what is going on.
* expect people to want to talk to you more than usual, cute little babies make everyone your friend. (our baby stared and blinked slowly at passersby until she could trap them in her tractor beam eyes and pull them in for a little more attention). Seriously. She is such the flirt.

Couldn't stress more the importance of a baby carrier. DD spent most of her time on my chest. She slept, ate, and enjoyed the rides right there.
Also, I would recommend leaving the solid baby food at home if he/she is eating it yet. Bringing just a bottle or nursing and not having to tote around the baby food and all the accesories that go along with it is so much easier.
Leave all of the cute shoes at home, they don't need them at that age and it's just one more thing to make sure you don't loose.
We brought DD at 6months and again at 2 yo and she was WAY easier when she was 6mo.

We took DD 3 1/2 mos to Disney this past Jan. and she did great. Babies that young are very portable. Most can sleep anywhere and go along for the ride. We used our baby carrier and stroller and visited the nursing centers when needed, if we were near them. If you are formula feeding be sure and take or pick up what brand you baby eats since they only sell Carnation products on property. I would be careful with the heat and humidity and keep the baby good and hydrated. Also get a stroller fan to help keep baby cool. Sunscreen and a hat-to keep baby from burning. We traveled in Jan. to avoid those things. I hate the heat!

Definitely take advantage of the Baby Care Centers - they are an absolute lifesaver! There are centers in all of the parks now and are marked on the maps. They have changing tables, highchairs, microwaves and small kitchen area, and usually a place for you to sit and chill for a little while - kids can read, play with toys, or watch a little Disney tv. They also have inside bathrooms and some have a private room for nursing mothers. Our children are 3 and 6 and we still take advantage of these havens!
