Hey everyone, I was trying to get some input into a few different ideas I had for not standing in a 90 minute line for the Submarine Voyage.

First would be being there at the time the gates open (Early entry day) and running for Tomorrowland and attempting to stand in line, even though it won't open for another hour, (EE morning). Second would be getting in line on or around the time the parade and/or fireworks are on. IF else fails just try getting in line in the last half hour the park is open. Any other ideas feedback, the subs are a major reason why I decided to visit Disneyland for the first time, and I really, really, wanna be able to get on them without standing in those ridiculous lines. Thanks!

Getting in line early to be first in EE line, then standing in line for another hour before it opens. How is that better?? I think Hydroguy had some real good tips. He was pretty much first in line and got on the first boat.

Nemo is open for EE. If you do during an EE morning you need to be at the gates early - at least 30 minutes these day but 40 is better. Go directly towards the Matterhorn and then turn right towards Nemo.

If you go later in the day that may work. On some day lines seem to be 60-90 minutes by the afternoon.

Thanks HydroGuy, I just found your "Making the most out of Fastpass post", I will definetly be follwoing your tips! Thanks!!!

Hi, we just returned from 4 days at DL. I'm sorry to say that we never saw a break in this line. We tried during parades, fireworks, EE but there was never a good time to ride without standing in a long line.

I have two boys 18 and 14 so for us it was if we could get on great, if not they were not too upset. We saw our one opportunity yesterday (EE). We arrived at the park at 6:40 am and we were still quite a ways back in the entry line. Buy the time we entered the park and got to the Nemo ride the line was already at an hour wait.Unfortunately Nemo is not on the FastPass system yet.

So, I guess the answer to your question would be that you will have to stand in line no matter what. Either you get to the park earlier than our 6:40 am arrival time (on an EE day) so that you will be sure to be at the front of the park entry line or you stand in line at the ride. There will be a wait either way.

Good luck, I hope you enjoy the ride.

DD(5) and I were at the gates on Tuesday at 6:15 and first in line. My DW and DS joined us at 6:45. The lines were about 50+ deep at that point to get in. Once the gates opened we RAN off and on the whole way and were on the second sub. By the time we were getting on, I could see the line already stopped all the way back up towards thenentrance. Within 10 minutes of EE I would say the line was an hour long already.

On a side note, if you have a stroller, take it with you in line at the Mattahorn and keep it with you the entire line. A CM will take it from you at the end of the line just before you board. At least that will help little ones.

This is perfect. Yes, it just depends on where you want to wait. If you don't want to wait in the FNSV que, you will wait a while outside of the gates. If you don't want to wait outside of the gates early in the morning, you will wait in the que line.

And please - I am not trying to ignite a flame war.

We followed HydroGuys excellent suggestions. In line at EE at 6:30 (for a 7AM opening). Got into a pretty short line. Make it quickly to Nemo. Got on the sub at 7:30. Off at 7:45.

Here's my seditious statement. What's the Big Deal with the Nemo ride? I certainly wouldn't ride it again. Even without waiting in line at all!

Again, a simple question. Why are people waiting 3 hours in line for it? Because it is new?

Just a reminder, there is no 'running' in Disneyland. I'm sure you all meant, walk as fast as the slowest member in our party allows. ;)

I have written that the Nemo lines will die down sooner rather than later because it is not that good of a ride. So I agree with your assessment.

I think the excitement is because it is a ride with lots of nostalgia. And because it is new. Personally, the subs never did a whole lot for me when I was a kid. But many people have a strong emotional attachment to them.

There are certain rides that blow you away like IJA, SoC, SM, etc. FNSV does not fit into that category. Don't get me wrong. It is a fun ride. But it is not "blow you away" good.

We were at DL this past Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday and had no ee available to us. Since Sunday was the only non ee day for our trip we had no choice but to try and ride it first thing Sunday morning. We left for the parks at 6:50 and waited for about 10-15 minutes for bag check to open up. We were the 2nd party in line at Gate 13. We sat on the ground and played uno to pass the time away. We were able to get our APs scanned before 8am, so as soon as the countdown ended we walked through the turnstiles. Dh and ds walked at a very brisked pace past the castle and around the matterhorn by IASW. The cms and security firmly yelled no running and were adamant about no running. Security stopped a couple of men and warned them. There were plenty of cms around guiding people to the line entrance for nemo. There were 2 cms stationed by the matterhorn & triton's garden telling people they couldn't enter that way. I thought crowd control did an excellent job. Dh and ds were about the 10th person in line when dd and i caught up with them. The line was held for a few minutes and then was walked up to the entrance of nemo so no one could cut to the front of the line. We boarded the 1st sub of the day at 7:15 and was off the ride by 7:30. By that time the line was at the 90 minute mark.

We all enjoyed the ride and was glad the subs were running again. It was a fun attraction to experience but we only did it once this trip due to the lengthy lines.

Thanks HydroGuy - I did not see your comments on Nemo elsewhere.

This was our first trip to DLR after over two dozen to WDW. I was never a fan of the subs at WDW, and I guess I had the same reaction at Nemo. Cute, but not in the same category of the other attractions you mentioned. It's old but new. I get the nostalgia part - except I never really missed the subs <uh oh>...

Now, don't get me started on the dreadful versions of Journey Into Your Imagination at EPCOT.. Figment has never been the same

ANTICIPATION, ANTICIPA PA PA SHION IS MAKING ME WAIT....LA LA LA.

ahem....(for those of you too young, it's an old song) It's an old classic ride, it's been down for 8 years, we have all been ANTICIPATING it's return and now here it is. What's the big deal? Ehh nothing really except it's new and redone ride and we all want to see it. I will wait to ride it ONCE on my trip, hopefully wait in line at 7pm on a Wednedsay in Sept. Other than that, nothing really.

We rode Nemo on Tuesday. We got to the gates around 6:20-6:25am and were the 3rd family in our line. Most people did run to Nemo. They didn't start the ride until around 7:15-7:20am. We got on the first group of subs. It was a cute ride, but nothing great like Indie or Space Mt.

So, if you really want to get to Nemo, you have to get to the gates about 40 minutes before opening and be prepared to run to the Nemo line.

We met another Dis'er family standing in line in front of us. :woohoo:

We did it Thursday morning during EE. At bag check by 6:20, and on the third sub. There was some delay in the ride getting started, so we probably waited close to 50 minutes between when we got in line at bag check and when we got on the ride-by the time we got off, the wait was 90 minutes. So, we waited almost as long as you might wait if you got lucky late at night on a slow day-but on the other hand, our wait was in the nice cool morning, which for us was a huge plus over trying to wait any other time of day. It was cute, but nothing spectacular, I thought. However, my 10 year old, who loooooves DL roller coasters, rates this as the top ride of her trip.

How was the rope drop handled by the CMs? Was it a run from the entrance to the ride, or a slow walk, like other people have mentioned?

It was definitely a run all the way from the gates to the ride line. No CM's told us to stop running, but one did tell us to be careful with the wet ground.
