Running my first 5k in Sept. Is there a deadline for registering? Anything a first timer should know regarding the registering/picking up packets/running?

All I know is the race is Sept 5th at 7am - when should I get there by?
Packet pickup is the day before... what does that include? I'm assuming the number I wear? Anything else?

Do I need to check in before the race somewhere? Any and all help is appreciated!!! :worship:

My pictorial advice
run run just as fast as you can.......

and in all seriousness go to the WISH section of the boards to the "events" page, and there will be TONS of info.

These are just from my experiences:

I'm not sure about how early you should register (bc I always have someone else do it for me ), but I know that the earlier, the better.
If you plan to run the majority and don't care about stopping by the characters, going towards the front is best. But if want to take your time, jog, meet the characters, then the middle to the back is fine.
You might want to get there maybe a half an hour earlier. Last year, I think I got there about 10-15 min. before the race and I felt rushed. I was paranoid about having to go to the restroom and stretching before hand, etc. Don't forget about having enough time to walk to the starting point!
When you pick up your #, you also get a shirt and a bag full of goodies. Last year they gave everyone a Glade air freshener and I believe it was the kind that lights up, I kinda forgot. But when you pick up your stuff, there's also some vendors selling things, speakers that talk about health, and an area where they sell half marathon stuff. My favorite part was the free samples!
When you finally arrive at the race, you don't need to sign in anywhere. Just wear your #, go to the starting point, and have fun! And don't forget to take a camera w/ you if you want to take some pics. HTH some!
