Hey everyone, my wedding is in three weeks so now it is time for the little things. Like, Which people that have been assisting us with our wedding do we need to tip? Also how much is a usaully tip for each person?
thank you

this is what i could think of:
violinist or other musician
limo driver
officiant
disney photographer - you can probably tip them later by mail
wedding planner - you can probably tip them later by mail

my hubby tipped them so i have no idea how much $$

The general rule for service people is to tip between 10-20% of the total cost of the service rendered. For the wedding planner it really depends on what kind of service you've received but I'd say that a gift worth $50-$100 (or more if you want) would be nice.

Most people also tip the hair/makeup artist in addition to the list above

Would you get a gift for the planner, a gift card, or like actual money (Cash check money order) And if its a gift, how in the world do you know what they like to get? hehe

I tipped:

Hair/make-up artist
Violinist
Photog from DPS
Planner

For hair/make-up, I did a percentage of the service. For the violinist and photog I did a flat amount because they were included in our Memories package and I really didn't know how to figure out a "percentage" based on that. For our planner, I sent her a gift with a TY note once we were home. I did a gift card to Sephora - I figured most gals could find something at Sephora:goodvibes.

Thanks! Im so happy we are getting to the place where gift cards are considered acceptable gifts, instead of just the lazy persons way to avoid having to think about what the receiver would really like.

I think we are tipping the
Planner
Officiant
Violinist
Photographer

up in the air about the servers. I guess we could give them a modest tip and be safe either way.

Another question: If the officiant is a friend and doing it for free, would it be appropriate to tip them the amount it would have cost to pay for an officiant?

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. Our pastor is making the trip up to do our ceremony but didn't want to be paid for it. We were thinking of paying for his hotel (he has a wife and kids) for the weekend so he can make it a mini trip.

I think it all depends on the situation.

We have a Memories Collection wedding booked in February.

Some people have said they tipped their limo driver. In our case we're paying for that in addition to our package and a 21% service charge is being applied, so that is, in effect, the tip. Anything that has a service charge applied automatically is the tip so always watch for this.

As I understand it I need to tip those people that I "buy in" who do not own the business. So I will tip my hair/makeup artist, any photography assistant.

The officiant will charge a fee and so no need to tip.

I assume the fee I am paying Disney is including a service charge and so covers disney staff. I will probably buy a gift for my planner (something personal from the UK).

That's exactly what we did for our pastor - covered the hotel, plus airfare.

Disney already add a service charge to all catered events so I don't think a tip is needed.
