tipping with the DDP

I just read something about an automatic 18% added to your bill when you are using the ddp, anyone know if this is true? I had only heard that parties of 6 or more were automatic 18%. Just trying to get my facts straight.

It should only be automatic with parties of six or more.

Not that this really matters to me, but my SIL will want to know. Is this automatic charge of 18% for parties of 6 or more charged to your room? Are you not allowed to chose which method of payment you'll be using for the tip? (I hope I'm making myself clear.)

You can choose the method of payment - but your check isn't considered "paid" until you have taken care of ALL non-plan-covered charges before leaving the restaurant.
