I know it says tips are included with the Disney Dining Plan. Does any one tip extra? Do the servers actually see any of the money ?? Should I tip a little?
There is an 18% tip included in any meal that is a TS, I believe. If you normally tip more than that or you get extra service, I'm sure the servers would appreciate an extra tip. When I do that on DDP, I always leave cash.
Yes the servers do see the 18% tip. We always leave extra as at home if we have good service or exceptional service we normally tip 20 to 25%. So I would leave extra for the service. The only place we didn't on our last 2 trips was Tepp as the service was nothing spectacular. We usually added about another 5% to the tip. Just do this if you want. It is truly up to the individual, but I know the servers appreciate that you recognize they went above and beyond.

Exactly what we did. Last year when we were there, the tip was only 15%, which I would never leave if we were paying OOP. We left enought to bring it up to 20-25%, which is what we like to do.
We just got back from 7 days on the DDP. We tipped extra at almost every meal. The service is impeccable and we tipped accordingly. Normally, I am a 20% person so we brought it up to there.
We budgeted $5 for each 3 people at the 1 TS restaruants and $10 -20 at the 2 TS restaurants.
We tipped more at California Grill and less a couple of other places (less than great service).
Hope you enjoy your dining plan (and I hope you like to eat.... ALOT)!!!
Ditto, ditto, and ditto. Even when the food wasn't extraordinary, we invariably found the service to be. Some of our servers seemed to have ESP, they were that good.
Most servers will add on an 18% gratuity for your out of pocket check, for adult beverages for example. They'll also do that it if part of your group isn't on the dining plan even if the total number of guests is under 8 and even if you're seated in more than one table.
Just check so you don't unintentionally double tip. It's a good idea to have small bills so you're prepared to tip extra.
Most of the time, during our trip in May, we didn't add to the included tip. Our service was ok, but not outstanding at most places. However, we did give and extra tip to our servers at LTT and Kona because they were excellent - we just tipped as we would have at home so they actually got about double.
