After much debate, we decided to book two cabins rather than a cat. 4 for our family of five. I just realized that that may mean double tipping. Do I have to tip the room steward twice from our family since the kids are in one room and we are in another???

Thanks
Kelli

Tips are figured on a per person basis so it doesn't matter if you are in 1 room or 2 the amount is the same per person.

Hope this helps,
Jennifer

I never really thought about it before but the room steward could really lose out that way. If you are one or two people in a room that sleeps four or more they only get tipped for two but the workload isn't that much less. I wonder if Disney takes that into account when they assign rooms so that one CM doesn't end up with mostly full rooms while another gets mostly ones that aren't full.

That's one reason why we usually up the tip to close to double when hubby and I sail (if the service warrants it, of course...and it almost always does). Of course, my beloved 5650 only holds three at most, but we like to round the amount up.

you aren't "double tipping" as tips are on a per person basis. You would tip the same whether you had one room or two.

Yes, tipping is based on the number of people in each room.

Kids or adults it doesn't matter..they room steward is still taking care of the room. This definately isn't double tipping..as the tip is per person!!!!!

Thank you all!! I should have realized that it was per person, I've read it enough!!

I think that what Barb means by double is that she multiplies the per person tip by 4 rather than just 2 even though there are just 2 of them. Am I correct, Barb?

We had room 5650 on The Magic (7/3-10) and had a very strange encounter at Lumier's one lunch time. The CM at the door insisted that there was no such room ... even after we insisted a number of times.

Go figure!
