"Tipping the staff in the clubs"

I know many people have given Walmart cards or phone cards. How many club staff work with your child during the week? I am trying to plan how many to purchase. Also what denominations do you give per person?

There are about a 12-15 people that work in the clubs depending on the age group. When we just went we had only brought 5 phone cards so we let our daughter give them to who she had wanted.

I've heard that people that so get them pool them together and share in all of them, but havn't been able to confirm that

A hint: don't wait until too late on the last evening to distribute the cards...my son wanted to personally thank his favorite counselors but their shift ended earlier in the evening. We left the cards at the desk but my son was disappointed.

If you don't mind me asking, what denominations do you get and from what telephone carriers are preferred? And, do the phone cards expire? I have about 14 months until our cruise and I could really stock up if I start buying them now. Does this work for other CMs, too? Or, just in the kids' clubs?

What about gratuities for the Counselors in the kids clubs?

This info was provided by DonaldFan70 - a former Counselor and Club Manager on DCL. The Counselors are NO Longer considered a non-tipped position BUT they are NOT set up with a gratuity system like the servers / asst. servers, etc. Even though you can/should tip them, all cash tips are pooled and used for department functions and any non-cash gifts (phone cards, gift cards, and BTW they love candy - but not gum - the captian frowns upon gum) are pooled to use as prizes at department functions. If you want a non-cash gift to go to a specific counselor you must let the manager know so that it does not get pooled. BTW - CM's must report all gifts and gratuities to their department leader / manager (DCL Company Policy)

If you are looking at teen clubs, there are always only 4 people there, but they're there ALL THE TIME, ALL WEEK LONG. I'm supirsed they dont sleep there

If you're tipping, take into consideration how well they did, there is no set number
