Just wondering how much people tip the Magical Express drivers? We had one last year that was fantastic and tipped accordingly. I'm looking for a range...

Thanks!
:)

We gave him $10 for our family of 4. Hadn't even considered the tip until the last minute so scrambled for some cash and that's what he got. Glad I didn't pull out a $50!!

$1 if I don't have any bags to put under the bus, but if I do, I add $1 for each. I've had a funny one and tipped $3 for just me.

I feel dumb, I didn't think it was a tip position for some reason.:confused3

You tip the driver just as your would a porter for luggage handling.

We tip $2 per bag minimum, but usually increase it. We travel with just DH and I and usually have 3 bags that the driver will handle for us. We generally tip $10 total for the both of us.

:)If we have bags that are handled by the driver we tip $10 but if we just have small carry-on or no bags, we tip $5.

I also tip but it just bugs me when they announce they want a tip over the loud speaker. For me that is not right to beg for a tip.

I never even thought of tipping.
Do I have to tip if I carry my own bags? This is what I have done anywhere else I stay.

Until this thread, I never thought of tipping the driver. You don't do it on a public bus (but of course they aren't handling luggage and yadda yadda). That said, I'm GLAD it was brought up because I'll do it when we use the ME for the first time this trip. Even if you don't have them handle your bags, I really think it's most polite and fair to at least give a buck or two. After all, the whole drive over cost you nothing and you go through quite a few tolls usually if you take the main roads. We usually rent a car and drive. Throw the guy a bone. :lmao::goodvibes:thumbsup2

If the driver has to put bags underneath for us then we tip $1 per bag.

Does the driver personally pay the tolls? I don't think so....
We are planning to rent a car anyway but given we are coming in so late we thought we might try ME for the first time.
Might be better to just save the money and take the car from the get go.

I understood that tips were not required when they do not handle your baggage at all. Thought that they received a gratuity from the Mouse as part of the Magic Express contract.

I agree with you. I only encountered this one time, and I didn't feel it was appropriate so I didn't tip. But normally I tip around $5 if they handle my bags under the bus (I've done a bit more if the driver was outstanding and personable with the passengers).

Disney pays for each Guest handled by Mears, (the contractor), that's why they scan your bar code. The cost to Disney is covered by the inflated prices that we pay. If the driver does something special we will tip. We don't tip just for the ride.

If someone want to get a free ride and stiff someone that wants tips (if it is announced that they apparently DO accept/want them), then that's their prerogative. Private car drivers expect them so I suppose it's fathomable a bus driver would too. If they are expecting or wanting a tip, I'm going to give it. To each her or her own.

A free ride to and from the airport and a $5-10 tip between two drivers is saving money over renting a car? I have to say that's a first for me.
