tipping taxi drivers

In Greece, we usually just round up and maybe add a Euro or two. So, for a 9.35 fare, giving 10 Euros is the norm.

I will be needing some taxi rides both at Disney and elsewhere in the US. How much of a tip should I be giving? I don't want to be that person that deprives another of their fair earnings!

I am fully aware of tipping in restaurants

Same, in the UK we usually just round up to the nearest pound or two.

I had a taxi driver outraged in Vegas because I tipped him $2. But that was because he took me the long long way from the airport to the car rental place!

Why did you take a taxi to the car rental hub? If you mean he took the tunnel, that's the right way to get there. It's the route the free shuttle takes.

We got a better rate offsite of the Airport at the Dollar on Swenson St. It was taxi or a long public transport option.

Do you remember how much you paid? The fare estimator shows $14.04 with tip, with a high of $21.16 in heavy traffic. But yeah, there's no reasonable explanation for being long-hauled.

I think he wanted $25, I cant argue with the meter, but I knew the route he took wasn't right!

I would tip based on the route if you are sure they are taking the long way, I had this happen at WDW, I know the area well enough to know that he was running the meter up.
