I am sure this has been asked a zillion times, and Dh says I have asked before, but I can't find it in the search, and can't remember... so sorry up front...

How much do you tip room service? trying to figure out how many dollar bills to bring.

Normally $1 per person that orders something, unless we order a full meal which then raises the amount based on how much we feel is appropriate at that time. Middle of the night delivery $2 per person that orders.

Added:
Quoting myself "Normally $1 per person that orders something"
I mean one person ordering one item.

I got duped on the Dream one night when all I had was a $20 and the server only had $11. He got a nice tip for one meal. :lmao:

Typically, I tip $1 per item...but on our WBPC I rarely tipped at all because after the 2nd or 3rd delivery of $5-$10 tips, we were still getting deliveries without silverware or napkin(s) or missing food or drinks or basic condiments like S&P after I requested them...reallllly basic things. My mind set was like, if you are being careless, I am not going to tip that. I started to check over the order first, then tip accordingly...

In college I was a room service kitchen dispatcher/order prepper for a AAA 5 diamond resort, so maybe my expectations are just too high?

And Princess Vija, we always take a wad of one dollar bills just for the purpose of having at the ready for room service tipping! I just keep them in one of the drawers in our stateroom. Super convenient. :teeth:

We make up room service tip envelopes in advance with $2 in each. I put the envelopes in a magnetized pocket and stick to the wall close to the door.

Cool idea, this our first cruise so thanks for the tips on tips ;)

If I don't have change, I just write the tip on the receipt (like I do for drinks, etc)

now, this might seem like a stupid question, but DH and I rarely drink alcohol, haven't bought any drinks on previous cruises, but will probably purchase a drink at a bar to celebrate our anniversary... so if we buy a cocktail, we tip that too? please don't laugh, I really don't know, I guess I would have just paid for the drink... how much do you tip?

If you buy at a bar an auto tip will be added at 15% you can add to that if you wish but it's automatically added.

Only 2 of us and we probably only order one or twice so normally a buck an item as usually just soup and sandwiches, no more than $5 though.
