We almost never use cash, so I'll have to make a specific run to the bank to get enough cash for tips.. so I'd like to make sure I get enough. I've got a plan for Mousekeeping, so all set on that front. I'm wondering about other times I'll need to tip that I'm not expecting, since I haven't been to Disney since I was a kid. We'll be using DME, so I figure on maybe $5 each way (there are 6 of us, and at the very least he'll have to stow our stroller and infant carseat).

So then what? We'll have a few carry-ons, but I can carry those myself. I'm shipping a big box to the resort and can't carry it to the room. We're also getting groceries delivered on the day we arrive (not sure if they'll be there when we arrive or if they'll arrive after we get there). I know I can have Bell Services bring everything to my room for me, but do I also need to tip the person who gets the box out of storage or whatever? Also.. is it possible to use a cart and bring everything to the room myself? I really don't mind and would actually kind of prefer it that way.

I'd like to have tips in envelopes so I don't have to be counting out cash (and possibly accidentally shortchanging someone), but to do that I need to know in advance how many people I might need to tip..

We'll be staying at ASMu.

Thanks!

You're going to run into way too many tipping instances to be able to have them counted out. Just have some ones ready.....

. . . no need to tip DME unless driver handles your luggage
. . . other luggage handling is tipped by WDW directly

. . . just tip the bellman $1 per box or luggage
. . . but, tip at least $2 if only one box

Also.. is it possible to use a cart and bring everything to the room myself?
. . . not if in a deluxe or Moderate
. . . there are carts at Value,s but only a few of them
. . . many times they are in use and nowhere to be found
. . . the carts are for bellman use only
. . . this is the way they make their income

NOTE:
Tipping housekeeping is also not necessary.
Maids are paid well and make more than most of the CM's at resorts.

As for using a luggage cart and taking up your own bags...they wouldn't let DH do this at WL in June. They INSISTED that they bring the bags up...when he said he would, they wanted him to move the car to parking first and wouldn't let him use a luggage rack...not sure if this is typical. He has a friend with him, so he wasn't planning on leaving the car there.

We wanted to save a few bucks since its something we just don't mind doing, AND we wanted to keep an eye on our stuff since we have several electronics. One of our bags with a laptop was dropped by bell services at the Dolphin. They broke a laptop and portable DVD player. It took forever (and a lot of hassle) to be reimbursed.

For DME we Tip $5.00 each way and for MouseKeeping we usually do $2.00 a day with a Thank You note on the bed. If we receive "Extra" service something for kids towel sculpture etc we will leave more. Shawnpirate:

I think all of these people appreciate a tip. I don't think any of them are making over six figures. I have never taken DME but $5 sounds like a reasonable amount to give the driver. I tip about $2 per bag to the bellman. I leave the maid a few dollars a day. We always get plenty of towels and toiletries. The $30 - $50 you tip these people over the time you are there is nothing in comparison to the total cost of the trip.

I tip $2 per bag for bell services. $5 per day for mousekeeping (3 people in a room). I also tip at the airport if I get help with my luggage ($2 per bag).

I tip mousekeeping $1 per person, per day. Bell Service $1.00 per bag. I give DME driver a couple of dollars, unless he's handling my luggage. Then I tip $1 per bag.

$2 per bag to Bell Services, including bags of groceries that are delivered.

$5 per day housekeeping. I don't care what they make, they are cleaning up after me.

I don't do DME but if I did, I'd tip $2 per bag.

We do tip housekeeping I think last time it was $3 per day for two of us. We tip bell services $1 per bag. We tip ME $2 since they don't have to handle any of our bags. We tried to tip bell services when we picked up our carry-on they were holding for us until our room was ready, but they wouldn't take it.:flower3:

Family of four adults taking serious advantage of platinum plan in June w/ multiple tours, dinners and perks including firework cruise, spas, water sports...any tipping guidelines would be appreciated.

The bellman should be possessive about the luggage carts. It a tool they use to make a living. I worked in college as a bellman and it was always hard to explain to guests that they are not for public use.

There is also liability issue if something happened while you were using the cart. If it tipped over and injured someone, we'd see another Disney lawsuit.

They're also really expensive! It doesn't look like it, but they cost over $1000 each. I've had to buy them!

thanks for asking this I was working on my tipping budget today and this helped a lot!:thumbsup2
