Tipping question

My DH and the kids gave me a spa gift certificate for Mother's Day and I've made an appointment to have my legs and eyebrows waxed, and also for a manicure and pedicure. I have never had any of this stuff done before and I am clueless when it comes to tipping. I haven't even stepped into a beauty salon in ages since my sister started cutting my hair.

So, how much do I tip for these services?

I would tip around 15% depending on service. Double check at the front desk as to where to tip. At the spa I go to, they have envelopes up front that you enclose your money and write the name of the person, then leave it there.

Ditto what mtemm said, I usually do 15% or a little more, maybe up to 20%. Like my haircut (sadly) costs $55, and I usually tip the stylist $10. (15% would be $8.25) My hair salon also has envelopes at the front.

Also, I had a facial done at the Grand Floridian Spa last year (which was heavenly, btw!), which I think cost about $120. I left either $20 or $25 dollars.

If you're unsure of the costs, perhaps you could call again to find out, or ask for a menu of services (usually they'll have some kind of price list, though some places just give you a range and depending on the technician or stylist, they charge different prices).

You may want to check with the reception area as to whether the tip is already factored into the cost. Last year DH and DD gave me a gift certificate for the Spa at the Hotel Hershey (a wonderful indulgence) and tips were already included in the cost (I think it was 20%). They made a real point of letting customers know this.
