ok i know how much to tip at palos and room service but my question is do we tip if we say go into tritons for lunch? and how about the spa? how much do we tip there, i really would like to know if anyone tips for lunch at tritons or ddo you just get up and leave after your lunch thanks

You are not expected to tip for lunch at Tritons/Lumiers (the only onboard dining that "requires" tipping is Palo and people usually tip room service).

Tipping at the Spa is pretty much up to you - for the limited Spa things that we do, we usually leave an additional tip appropriate to the level of service we received.

If you notice the servers at breakfast and lunch and at topsiders are the same severs that serve us for dinner! So when you give out your tips (and you think that it is really expensive), remember you are in reality tipping for your breakfasts, lunchs AND dinners. The people who skip out on the last dinner just to avoid tipping are really not just skipping tipping for the dinners - but for all of the meals they had (except for Palo and room service)!! And these folks have been busting their butts helping us have a magical vacation. I've seen the dinning room Head Waiter busing tables up at Topsiders - and that has made it easier for me to tip him.

How many of you tip the suggested amount? How many more? I don't want to be cheap. If you do tip more- about how much more for the 7 day cruise and is that per person? Thanks ahead for your help!

We usually tip more than the suggested amount, because our experience with our servers and stateroom host/hostess has generally been excellent (as "Sam the Man" would say). These positions work for tips only - they receive no additional compensation from DCL, and most of these people really bust their rear-ends to make sure you have a good time.

Tipping guidelines are per-person; that is they give you a base rate and you multiple that by the number of people in your party.

For example, on the 7 day it is suggested that your server get $25.75 - if there are 4 of you, that would be 4 * 25.75 or $103.

So, as you can see, tipping can add up so it's always a gtood idea to budget it if you're running on a budget (as most of us are). For a party of 4, the suggested guidelines on the 7-day come in at $305 total for all 4 of the tipped positions (Head Server, Server, Assistant Server and Stateroom host/hostess).
