Do you tip mousekeeping daily or just at the end of your trip? I'd prefer to just do it at the end because I'm afraid I'd forget to leave cash daily. But, obviously, I don't want to leave anyone out!

You may not have the same person your entire trip. I would tip daily to be safe.

I tip daily too. I make up envelopes ahead of time, put the date in the corner and put them all in the safe. Then each day when I leave for the parks and lock up our safe, I put a new one out.

Wow, this is one of the reasons why I love these boards. I can honestly tell you I've been going to wdw for over 15 years now and I never thought about this.

I've always tipped at the end of a trip.

do you guys do this at a non disney spot? We went to Paris this past May and once again I never gave thought to who was cleaning the room, I left an envelope at the end of the vacation. Now I feel bad 10 days and I'm sure I got different cleaning ladies.

I leave a daily tip no matter where I stay. I want to make sure that I am tipping the person who cleaned my room that day. The only time I get my envelopes ready before I arrive is when I stay in WDW, but that is because my DD makes cute ones for me.

I usually keep a small stack of ones in the top drawer for convenience and as a reminder. Then I put the money folded into the housekeepers card and leave it by the phone when I call for the wake-up call.

Finally, I place the card and money on a pillow so she or he will know it's definitely for the housekeeper.

Have a great time.

:)

I use to tip mousekeeping, but not anymore. I tipped twice in the past and the level of service went down dramatically both times.

My advice, don't worry about tipping, and just enjoy yourself. Don't you think you spent enough money for you vacation already?

I doubt we will tip housekeeping when we go but I do know people tend to tip daily rarther than weekly or at end of the trip. :)

Daily tip, anywhere that I travel. The issue with tipping at the end of the stay is that you may end up giving a week's worth of tips to a housekeeper who never set foot in your room during your stay. There's no guarantee that you'll have the same housekeeper throughout your stay.

Me too..I am at pop century now,n i have, been tipping everyday n haven't got any of those cute towel animals n had to wait til after 4pm to get room cleaned when there is barely anyone on this floor! I am done tipping!

We tip daily and leave a slightly larger tip on the last day because it's harder work when you check-out than a daily clean.

My MIL and DD have both worked as chamber maids. It is hard work and very under paid. The pay scale is based partly upon assumption of tips.

I have been thanked by chamber maids personally-- one with tears in her eyes over a $3 tip-- many times. These are people that need every penny they can get and I'm on a spectacular vacation in the happiest place on earth.

Always tip each time you request housekeeping (this includes any hotel, not just Disney)! It's almost guaranteed you will have a different person cleaning your room each day.

I also like to think of it as this: When you tip in advance, you're likely to get better service. They see the tip before they clean the room and know that you appreciate the work they do so they do a wonderful job.

We don't like housekeeping to come in daily...usually just every 3 or 4 days, but I made up envelopes ahead of time that said "Mousekeeping: Thank You!" (I made fancy Mickey shaped heads actually with a slot in the pants area for the money but any envelope is fine) and on the days we wanted our room cleaned I just set one out and slipped a few dollars in it. The first day we had them clean our room, they left us about 10 shower gel bottles, 10 conditioner bottles, 10 shampoo bottles, and tons of soaps. I was shocked! We don't like to take that stuff home so I left whatever we didn't use (we were there for 7 nights though so it was nice not having to scrimp on shower gel & conditioner). One of our Mousekeepers also left us a cute little note on Valentine's Day, it was so nice. :) We were 2 adults in the room and left a $3 tip per cleaning. I heard the general rule of $1 per person + $1 and it stuck with me. :) We are super clean guests and don't leave any messes, crumbs, etc. If we ever made any sort of mess I would tip extra.

I tipped daily on our last two vacations, but the housekeeping at Disney is not a tipped position. They are paid over minimum wage (unlike waitresses who are paid well under minimum wage as tips are expected).

Not all of the mousekeepers know how to make towel animals. Your tip will not ensure that you receive one, and your lack of a tip will not ensure that you do not. Tip if yo want, do not tip if you choose, but do not hold the staff responsible for things out of their control.

They do make at least minimum wage, but are still on the low-end of the wage earners world. It's a hard, physical (& often disgusting) job to do for $8/hour.

(Personally, I think it's horrible that wait staff are paid less than min wage because of tip potential.)

I tip daily regardless of where I travel. I also tip daily for turndown service, separate from my room cleaning tip. I don't make envelopes; I leave the cash where the little card is regarding room cleaning which is usually either on the nightstand or on a ledge in the bathroom.

:thumbsup2 Could end up giving a week's worth of tip to someone who just came on shift for the week, etc.

Not everyone knows how to make the towels. Why not call the Housekeeping people to talk about your issues? That way they might get fixed.

We tipped every day and a bigger tip at the end. We definitely had at least two different mousekeepers (BF likes to sleep in so we got to meet a few  ) and we got a towel animal a few days in. But we weren't tipping for towel animals, we were tipping to say thank you for picking up after us. I don't need perfectly straightened and lined up towels and my trashed changed everyday but they do that anyway to make your stay a little nicer and I appreciate it and understand that it's an incredibly thankless job. I'm obviously paying to stay there and thats why they come in the room to begin with, but it's nice to know that your work is appreciated.
