Tipping on the First Day?

WOW Russ....I hope your friends called the bank and the restaraunt about that...that's highly illegal!! :bounce:

Good morning ruvidu.

Speaking of tips, some friends of ours must have left a "less than expected" tip recently while visiting a resturant in Charleston.

Regarding tips, this reminds me of an incident on my honeymoon (my heavens, was I actually married???). In LA we rented a car since the public transportation system is nearly non-existent. The rental car was a Toyota that ran well but, like so many of us, needed a little body work.

My eventual ex and I went to a very exclusive restaurant in the Beverly Hills area. When we dropped the car off with the valet, I noticed that practically all of the vehicles were Rolls Royces. Yes, Rolls Royces. Humm. Ok. I'll skip the inside stories - lol. We were, however, well received. As we left our table after the meal, I said to my eventual ex as I held a dollar bill in my hand, "This place is super-high-end. Think I'll tip the valet $2 rather than the usual ($1)." My e.e. started to laugh and pointed to a sign by the door, "Minimum tip - $3.50"...

they immediatly called the bank and had the extra charge removed. They then called the resturant (very famous eatery) and told them what happened. They apologized but never offered to make it up to them. If it had been me I would have been right back in there in that server's face. It is only a 3 hour ride, it would have made me feel better and I could have got some shrimp and grits at another resturant.

Another good story BD.

Good Day All
